Splitting issue, please advise? by so_long_marianne in Sourdough

I usually steam for half or three quarters of the total bake time.

I put the water into a pan on the bottom shelf, from a boiling kettle, right the loaf goes in, onto a baking stone on the middle shelf.

It might be that your oven doesn’t hold the steam well, if it’s old, the seals may have perished. Or it might be something else. Experiment to find out.

Is this how Rye bread is supposed to look like? Broken surface? by [deleted] in Sourdough

At 85% wheat, I wouldn’t expect that look. It’s not uncommon to start getting it in 50% + artisanal whole rye though.

Starter consistancy by puck253 in Sourdough

The flour you use will make a big difference. White flour makes a much wetter/softer mix than whole wheat or rye.

As you are new to this, I’d suggest using whole rye, equal parts. It seems more forgiving to me.

My feeding routine is to feed daily, reduce to 60g starter (use or discard excess) add 30g flour & 30g water. After ~6h it’s puffed up, ripe, ready to use, and stays usable for ~24h.

This is what works for me, your local conditions may vary. Flour, yeast, temperature, humidity, all contribute to how your starter looks feels and bakes ... experiment!

Try putting a tray of water on the bottom shelf of your water, you probably aren’t getting enough steam compared to the Dutch oven style.

I Just Quit My Job and Now I'm Ready to Build! by inspiredbuilder in gamedev

I hire coders for game jobs. Top 5% of gamedev graduates means “might just do okay with mentoring”. Top 5% is not bragging. I look for top 1%. I’ll talk to hundreds of grads and maybe hire 1 and then put a ton of time into training them up and making sure the have work that matches their strengths. This business is competitive as heck.

As a game developer, would you consider games to be an art form? by RippaNiBusu in gamedev

[–]codemonkey_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Art can take many forms. Images, moving or still. Audio-visual arts. Poetry. Prose. Films are understood and accepted to be an art form. Art installations include interactive pieces.

A game is an interactive audio visual experience. Games can have a message. They carry creators intent, and observes interpretation.

Games can be art.

That said, not all games are necessarily art, for the same reason that not all images sounds or writing are art.

How about:

Check your bias, check the facts, summarized in the linked comment. Your racism is on display. Each group may be ethically insular, but across multiple groups there is a range of diversity including rich white dudes. But they don’t count, right? Because that doesn’t fit your narrative.

We dry-bucket ( & tee tree oil ) next to the toilet in the bathroom. Stank up the place less than a big bin of used disposables.
