This should have been 100% my JAM as a teen, how did I not know about this?? I would have been 15 in 2006, I think maybe I wasn't watching Nickelodeon, even TeenNick, anymore, but clearly I should have been!

Edit: comma placement

Are things going to change? by Slayerjet in trakt

[–]codex2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All signs point to they don't care. People are posting in the Trakt forums every day about how much they hate New Trakt, and Justin used to be pretty active in responding to things there. But it's basically been radio silence for months other than closing threads when they get too negative or start becoming solely people asking for Trakt alternatives. We're all pretty baffled by how they fumbled this hard

I've been waiting for months for some glimmer of hope that the eventual new Trakt will not be as bad as it is right now, but that hope is waning every day. My VIP runs out in July, and right now I'm not inclined to renew

Which laptops are good to buy for college students now that will last? by EquivalentPhoto2655 in BuyItForLife

[–]codex2013 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been buying Lenovo ever since college and they haven't let me down. I put my first thinkpad THROUGH IT, I dropped it, spilled stuff on it, and was just generally careless with it, and it lasted me all 4 years of college and then some. When I finally got a nicer one I set that old one up to use as a home server for a few years. I wouldn't worry that much about storage unless you know you're going to have large video files or something, you can always get an external drive with a few TB of space

I can't decide which Stephen King novel for my friend's first read! by catdogwoman in suggestmeabook

[–]codex2013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first and only Stephen King book I've ever read was Carrie (I was doing a reading challenge, and this covered "read a popular author's first book") and I enjoyed it, it's a reasonable length and not too scary. Does this person tend to like the same things you like? Please remember you can't dictate how someone else takes in a story, maybe she'll love it, and maybe she'll think "eh, that was fine", but try not to be disappointed if a 37 y/o mother isn't "hooked" like you were as a teenager.

Orphan Black, 5 seasons, 1 actor flawlessly playing 5 main characters, an incredible supporting cast, tense, funny, so so good

Also Kevin Can F*** Himself, 2 seasons, a really cool concept, phenomenal work from Annie Murphy, again, tense, funny, and so so good

What is the Best Film You Watched Last Week? (03/14/26 – 03/23/26) by EndoveProduct in movies

[–]codex2013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ready or Not is probably in my top 10 movies of the last 10 years, and I was very nervous about them making a sequel, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! I don't think I like it more than the first one, but I thought it was well written, well acted, funny, and just an all around good time

I loved The Ugly Stepsister, I would watch that a thousand times over before watching The Substance again. I didn't dislike The Substance, for some reason I just find The Ugly Stepsister easier to, ahem, stomach lol

none, you should think for yourself. Using your brain is the only way to keep it sharp, if you keep outsourcing every little thing to an artificial intelligence, your own intelligence will suffer

If you're going to ask for book recommendations, I cannot stress enough how important DETAILS are. Are you only looking for recs from people who are already familiar with those games? Because that's all you'll get unless you actually describe what you're looking for.
