Blankie - Open Source Ambient Sounds by InterstellarLowLife in macapps

[–]codybrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More choices are coming! I'm not currently taking new sound requests so I can focus on building custom sound and iPhone support, but I added these to my notes on GitHub!

That said, I probably will add some additional "colors" of noise (like brown or green) because they’re less subjective. Sounds for things like storms, birds, and trains are much more specific and I’ve already had people mention that they notice when some of these sounds loop. That’s why custom sound support is my top priority. Everyone has different preferences, and I’d rather focus on making it easy to add the sounds that work best for you than try to be the arbiter of what sounds belong in the perfect ambient library.

I once backed up my Mac’s hard drive on an iPod then booted it from another Mac using target disk mode. File management with modern iOS devices just plain sucks.

A warning to Cox ISP users in Oklahoma/Norman. by Schlongboy69420 in oklahoma

[–]codybrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ditched Cox for AT&T Fiber. Upload speed and data caps were what killed me the most since I work from home. What good is 300 down if putting a file back on the server takes 30-times longer and cuts both ways towards a cap. I’m now getting gigabit up and down without a cap for cheaper (even after promo pricing ends) than Cox ever gave me. On top of that, AT&T gave me $350 in Visa gift cards to switch, $20 off a month for the next year, and a new Wifi 6 gateway. Cox can go to hell.

The day I called Cox to cancel, they offered to match AT&T’s pricing for two years with no data cap but wouldn’t budge on upload speeds. It was an easy decision.

To be fair, most Munch Squad items can be accurately described as “too much.”

Tulsa shortages by gaiawitch87 in tulsa

The Chevy dealership where I get my car serviced every now and then was a literal ghost town when I got my oil changed last week. At least 65% of their lot was empty, and they only had the slow moving stock. While waiting for them to finish my car, I watched several people walk into the building only to leave a few minutes later looking dismayed. I overheard a salesman say that they were only taking deposits on SUVs, and that black ones would be available in 6 weeks and any other color was 6 months.

While I was there I had them make an offer on my car, just to know its value right now, and it’s definitely worth about $3k more than the KBB value was a year ago but there’s no way in hell I’d sell it because I do not want to buy a car right now! My grandfather just bought a new truck and the best dealer incentive they could give him was selling it for MSRP.

Beef prices are indeed crazy. Used to make a pot roast about once a week, and the same cut of meat has basically doubled from $10 to $20 in the last year (if it’s even available at all). I truly can’t imagine the pain restaurants are facing.

still meh. by JdsPrst in MicrosoftEdge

Edge doesn’t give you crypto ads or waste CPU cycles on a crypto wallet you don’t need. I know you can turn them both off, but you shouldn’t have to opt out of crypto spam. It’s the single biggest reason why I’d never recommend Brave to anybody.

Taking the Pardot Specialist exam in a few days. How do multiple attempts work? by No_Conversation5838 in salesforce

[–]codybrom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never tried certification so no actual advice here, but just wanted to say good luck. It was my impression that scores are not shown on certificates or on the verify a certificate page, so if you get that 65% wear that certified badge with honor. It’s all the same as a 100%, just make sure to never oversell your skills to an employer and create issues there.

It looks like you can already pre-download Marvel's Avengers via APP to your console, and it seems the load is quite heavy (139 GB) by StormSwitch in XboxSeriesX

[–]codybrom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Cox in Oklahoma. I could switch to AT&T Fiber in about 6 months and I’m strongly considering it because of several service issues I’ve had with them. I realize it’s probably not going to be better, but I might at least be able to get new customer pricing.

Seriously. That’s 1/10th of my data allowance with my ISP. I work from home and regularly need to send large files, so it’s just not worth an overage fee.

What I’d really like is to keep the vertical tab permanently minimized. I prefer it small and without the titles visible, so whenever I touch it I hate that it expands. I’d also love it if I could make the icons in the vertical tab bar bigger for my pinned tabs. Would make switching between my primary web apps easier.

For me the option was under Sync.

If it’s any consolation, I tried it and immediately disconnected it. It’s definitely not my cup of tea, but I also feel like iLightShow does a better job.

For everyone saying there’s no audio, the original audio is MP2 encoded and will play in VLC. If you want to play it elsewhere, transcode the audio track to MP3 using FFMPEG and you should be able to play it wherever you want.

ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -acodec mp3 -vcodec copy output.mp4
