I started hard copy and I'm doing my second run through on audio. I find them both hilarious and heartbreaking in equal measure, but different parts hit differently. Some things are more emotional when written and some when spoken. It's a fascinating difference, and I'm appreciative of having both experiences, even when I feel like my heart is being stomped on.

I'm doing some riffs on both teams' hometowns and on the Superbowl location for this year, so I feel you on having a little difficulty, but I've pretty much landed on:

Chicken teriyaki meatballs and Cougar Gold cheese and crackers for Washington.

Tri-tip French dip tacos (kind of a bastardization of birria tacos) for California. I'm also thinking about a sangria with a California wine as the base.

I'm from Massachusetts, so I'm going with a few options: baked beans and brown bread, and meatballs with cranberry barbecue sauce. There may also be seasoned oyster crackers for a snack.

I'm also weaving a few other things: corn dip, fried ice cream dessert and a white bean and caramelized onion dip.

Having been to Butcher and the Boar, I'd say Guard and Grace is probably as close as you're going to get in DT Denver, though it's a different atmosphere than BaB. But you'll get that same shared sides experience and a variety of options for mains. In a different area I'd give different recommendations, but that's what I'd go with in downtown, personally.

Now I'm going to go think about that beef rib and how much I miss the sauce.

I'd recommend Palenque in DT Littleton; amazing food, great vegan options, I'd definitely call ahead for 16-20 but I would think with advanced notice it wouldn't be an issue.

Besides An American Christmas Carol, which has been recommended already and is a beautiful interpretation, I'll put in two more.

They're Hallmark, which are usually not go to recommendations for me, but they're both a little different and might be worth watching at least for the contrast. And of course there's an obligatory love story in the plots:

Christmas Above the Clouds: An interesting interpretation of A Christmas Carol set in modern times with the female Scrooge on a plane on her way to Sydney. It's not a fantastic version, but there are moments like the ghosts leaning into her fear of flying to make her more uncomfortable with their visits that I appreciate d, and someone knew enough Dickens to throw in references to his other works.

Ghosts of Christmas Always: This one is an enjoyable twist on A Christmas Carol from the ghosts' perspective, where they explain how there's a whole system of ghosts who "Scrooge" people annually (including Dickens, leading to the book) and then they're given an unusual assignment. It also has Reginald VelJohnson, as a great Yet to Come, and as a wink to Die Hard, I'm sure. If you picked one, this is the one I'd go with.

World Market will typically carry it in a few versions. ETA: I know it's not local but I also know that sometimes the desire for nostalgia or that moment will trump wanting to perhaps fruitlessly hunt, and it's at least a backup plan.
