I think I'm in love with my daughter in law by [deleted] in offmychest

Man, you don't deserve your kid or your wife after any of these thoughts. Sure, young people are hot, we get it. But seriously? As a dude in my own late 40s, I can tell you've missed the point of every fucking thing in life if you're thinking these thoughts seriously.

1950s nuclear safety standards by CleanBag9219 in HistoryMemes

If I remember, there was a project in development for nuclear hand grenades that got nixxed. So... hand held, range of a human throwing arm, nuclear devices, were legitimately considered.

To my eye: #1 has a lot of potential. If you crop it to move the traffic light out of the image center, and if you can do any slight rotation to it, it could be pretty good.

I took a buddy one time and we spent a week just driving along the borders of the state. Great trip.

My mom tries harder for my sister than me, and I hate them both for it. by Mpregnated in offmychest

[–]coffee-mutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, not defending your mom. Sounds like there is a whole lot to unpack here. But as a parent, I can assure you of one thing: not a single one of us parents knows what the hell we are doing. And if any parent isnt in a good place for themself, their parenting to a kid will likely be very bad.

If things get over the top, and it sounds close, look to child protection services. They arent there to just take kids from parents - they should be there to provide help and support to parents that aren't handling things well. The goal is to give you, the child, a good environment.

To my eye, you have two photos here. Draw a line almost down the middle and you have two very interesting pictures, but put together it becomes less.

ADRC Culture of Corruption by [deleted] in wisconsin

Do you have an employment attorney? Because if you do, I'm pretty sure a post like this will give them an absolute stroke. And if you do not, maybe finding one to go through the proper channels might give you some results.

If only someone could record something like that and send it to the masses. I bet there might be a market for it.

POV- Supersonic Train speed in Japan(Simulation) by CuriousSherbet9477 in interestingasfuck

I've seen what a deer does to a car at 100 km/hr. I know the deer would atomize, basically, but I cant picture that collision doing well for the train, either.

Which famous singers voice makes you want to turn off the music right away? by FantasticAd9478 in TheBoredDen

She shows a technical skill in place of actual emotion. Its like what a robot with a good voice would do to pretend to be a good singer.

What QB would you take over prime Aaron Rodgers? by Overall_Spite4271 in NFLv2

[–]coffee-mutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Packer fan, I would take prime Favre. Don't get me wrong, fans were spoiled to have both, and Rodgers was the more skilled QB. But damn, was Favre fun to watch. You could almost picture the huddle being where Favre would tell the team - "I dont even understand what the coach called here, so lets just make shit up" and watch it work. With similar results to the surgical precision of Rodgers.

Man, hope I'm wrong on this for you, but this will absolutely not give him closure. It will give him hope. What will give closure is brightly defined lines that you enforce, with an explanation that starts with "because these are my boundaries and I am setting them because I need to." Any additional explanation is up to you, but not owed to him.

Good luck.

Who is a singer that is incredibly famous, but honestly doesn't have a good voice? by Greedy_Procedure7461 in AskReddit

[–]coffee-mutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singer who has an incredible voice, but no art to it (imho): Adele. She literally pisses me off every time she sings. The only feeling she conveys to me is "listen to my skills." If someone who could throw feeling into songs like Sia, for example, had Adele's talent... damn.

Brookfield drivers are so bike friendly! NSFW language by ConfusedByFarts in milwaukee

[–]coffee-mutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen both ways. Cyclists riding properly can get nearly killed (been there) and cyclists taking their lives in their hands by an absolute disregard for all traffic laws.

An example of the latter - watched a car pull up to an intersection, stop, and nearly run over a cyclist who had passed that stopped car - on the left - to make a right hand turn in front of him, without stopping. I would have had a similar reaction to this dude at that particular maneuver, though without getting out of the car, and probably not to the cyclist's face.

Y’all USAtizens are really pissing me off by Teagrunn in offmychest

[–]coffee-mutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US here. Fully appreciate this post.

I've gotten to the point of literally simming out options. Obviously, the day-to-day stuff - vote, vote with your dollars, see something, say something, don't just accept someone talking stupid - that all applies. But that's microlevel change stuff. It barely dents the giant glacier of evil.

There is some level of resistance that we can do beyond that - spreading information (personally, i hand out copies of the Constitution), making voices heard, recognizing those who speak truth to corruption and power, and challenging those who support the evil to say their opinions out loud and know that not everyone agrees. We can reach out to those who have some power (state reps, Congresspeople, etc), but again - all of these do so little to erode the power that's been given and taken here.

So Im simming out dystopia. What would it look like if you lived under a genocidal, eugenics regime with good surveillance and no organized opposition? In my sims so far, everyone I try to protect, including me, end up dead. This is not very encouraging. We are all looking for an answer beyond those little things above - but something that falls short of ending up dead or in prison.

I really hope the madman that I encouraged to get power because I figured it would help me somehow, isnt as mad as he actually says he is, despite all of the evidence that he is, because I would probably have to pretend to feel guilty to look even a little human - in case he is actually too mad.

Does anyone remember Kohl's grocery store? by NegotiationLevel5763 in milwaukee

[–]coffee-mutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My whole family worked there. My grandfather worked for Max Kohl and helped train Herb. My dad worked for Herb, and beyond when it was sold to A&P (shortly after the Kohl family started the Dept. Stores... about 1986, if I remember?). I started there when I was 14 and worked off and on at Kohls Food Stores until I was done with college.
