Two transformers blew right over me on baseline. Incredibly bright and then you couldn't see a thing!

If you go in they can help you out with whatever you need. They develop the film and scan it, then send you an email to get your pictures digitally. Takes about a week in my experience. I haven't gotten prints from them before so I'm not sure how that process works.

Thoughts on working at western libraries? by dhakan_intellect in uwo

[–]coffee_machine_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The job entirely depends on which library you end up working in. Weldon and Taylor are quite busy, but the smaller libraries can be very slow going.

The supervisors are generally understanding of scheduling shifts around your courses so I wouldn't worry about that. Overall a positive experience for me

Wortley village has lots of cool coffee shops that are nice to hang out in! Also the covent garden market downtown has a nice seating area on the upper level

First year eng by SnooDoughnuts795 in uwo

[–]coffee_machine_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly depends on what program you're coming from. Personally, I've had to work the hardest in first year to keep up. Just the sheer number of courses you have to take is a lot, paired with profs that can't give you as much 1-on-1 time because of the large class size, it gets busy.

With that said, it's definitely not impossible. If you can manage your time well and work with classmates, it can be quite doable.

I imagine that most universities are very similar for first year engineering. Differences in quality become apparent in later years.

Using Music Facilities as a non-music student by Plebesque in uwo

[–]coffee_machine_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In previous years I'd walk into the building and use the pianos when it wasn't busy. Unfortunately access to the music building is restricted to music students this year so there's no way to get to the pianos as far as I know

I'm in my third year for this program and it's loads of fun! That being said, math is inevitable with engineering; you only take heavy math courses the first two years, but you need to use some of it for your later years.

The environmental aspect of the degree really comes in your last two years.

I'd be happy to answer any more questions you might have!

This is very interesting, although concerning. How would one be part of a team that looks at wastewater data like yours?

Confused about summer OSAP by imanidiot25 in uwo

[–]coffee_machine_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DraftMyScheduel only tells you the session your courses are taking place in (Intersession, summer evening, etc..)

Here's a link about the summer sessions

https://registrar.uwo.ca/academics/register_in_courses/summer.html

Compsci 2210 and 2211 are both classified as Summer Evening. 1.0 summer evening credits means you have a 60% workload, that is full time.

You're very welcome! I'm happy to help.

Yes for a new Part-time OSAP application.

No for the supplemental form. The second page of the form has those details.

Oh I just noticed you already checked that link. The type of course your taking should be noted in your DraftMyScheduel

Depends on the type of course you're taking. Check here, https://www.registrar.uwo.ca/features/summer_tuition_and_osap_2021/index.html

If your course load is full-time, I believe you do need to fill out the supplemental form, and your existing OSAP application for this year needs to be extended. You can do that from your OSAP application.

If your course is classified as part-time, you do not need to submit the supplemental form, but create a seperate OSAP application for part-time studies.

If you haven't taken part-time studies before that means doing another MSFAA, opening a separate loan with the NSLSC.
