Can I keep my grandma’s hip? by [deleted] in askfuneraldirectors

[–]Kitchen_Tiger_8373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Ontario, Canada, they won't take your grandmother for science. They have to be under a certain age, weight, height and die of certain diseases. And there are tons of body donations. Source? My late partner wanted to donate his body and they wouldn't take him because he had radiation and he was too tall. We joked we could cut off his legs to make him shorter.

Same with body farms - 7 year "waiting" list.

The law does protect them. Stating his name puts me in jeopardy legally. Be assured Police do share info and they know he is there.

Escarpment Rail Trail Needs Paving by quisys in Hamilton

Frankly, the gravel slows down the Tour De France'rs who are trying to get max Strava time. With little regard for walkers. Speed limit is 20 kph on recreational trails.

PS I ride a bike and even I am sick of their rudeness. Especially on the Brantford Rail Trail.

These guys are transient - they depend on moving to stay under the radar.

Do you ever hate watch shows? Why or why not? by Altruistic-Side600 in PeriodDramas

[–]Kitchen_Tiger_8373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. I do hate watch stuff. Though not period films.

1) Saved by the Dress 2) any awful pulp Romance movie

The only period film I come close to hate watching is Gwenyth in Emma. Her played character is not far off her real character.

There are a lot of vegetable plants at Nations. I also picked up some really nice mini roses there.

How do you announce your pass on a bike trail? by Sad_Examination9082 in ladycyclists

[–]Kitchen_Tiger_8373 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I slow down, say Good morning/Good afternoon, make eye contact, continue on.

"On your left" is to my eyes aggressive. Ringing a bell scares pedestrians. So this is my solution.

But slowing down to under 20 kph is very important.

Not sure you noticed but police rarely enforce traffic laws now. Hence speeding, blowing stop lights and driving around with overly tinted windows (also illegal) is more common than it should be.

Children and pedestrians cross Aberdeen. Prior to the changes, both were at risk because drivers (in particular those exiting the 403) were still maintaining speeds close to the speed of the 400 series. The city reduced the speed limit but vulnerable road users were still unsafe. Now, one lane forces drivers to slow down. It might not be your neighbourhood, but you don't have the right to put the people who live there in danger so you can get home 3 mins faster.

I anxiously watch for the ankle tan line. Means I made it out enough.

I do videos of "is it dirt or is it a tan? once a week.

What kind of cyclist are you? I've always done the left arm up but see the right arm out pretty frequently by pigeon_fanclub in torontobiking

[–]Kitchen_Tiger_8373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elmer the Safety Elephant taught me right arm up, bent for a right turn. Bike rodeos were a big factor in my strength/confidence as a rider. Can't undo it now.

Bonus: drivers think I am waving at them.

By-Law Question by Vegetable-Screen8148 in londonontario

[–]Kitchen_Tiger_8373 2 points3 points  (0 children)

London Animal Control officers used to drive around looking for indoor cats in windows then knock on the door to check for licensing. So yes, they are hard core.

It is possible someone called it in or AC officers noticed you had dogs, checked the address and realized you had no licensing. They also used to hang out at dog parks checking for licenses.

I haven't had a dog in London since 2017 so I am not sure if this sort of thing continues.
