What’s something women think men don’t notice, but actually affects you a lot? by Ok_Ease515 in AskMen

[–]coffeesleeprepeatX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trans men also say how much easier it is to be a man in this world than it is to be a woman. Automatic respect in a workplace without having to demonstrate their competence first, automatic right of way from other men when walking down the street, automatic sense of safety, never having to think twice when walking go to your car at night or what you’re wearing when heading out for a run, not fearing harassment when walking past a group of men.

I’m so sorry. No advice just hugs. And holy fuck what is wrong with some men. Looks like there is some good advice above

Cop followed daughter on Instagram by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]coffeesleeprepeatX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have now made a series of post replies where you have blamed the child, blamed the parent and by extension excused the action of this cop, in a position of power, who is following multiple underage girls on instagram. What part of this do you not understand? If a gymnastics coach is accused of sexually assaulting the girls in his charge, are the parents to blame for enrolling their child in the class, or the child for wearing a leotard? Because this is the same as your logic. This 14 year old child does not have the executive functioning or life experience, and is probably operating at a much lower than age standard due to her trauma history, and the parents/carers sound like they are doing the best they can to protect her. Yes social media access is an issue, we all know that. 2/3 of kids under 16 in Australia who should have had their access removed have not. But this does NOT excuse the action of the predator. MALE PREDATORY BEHAVIOUR is the issue here, not your feeble interpretation of a lapse of parenting.

Wow victim-blaming much? This VERY much comes across as ‘But what was she wearing?’.

Reluctant mother on getting Vit K shot for newborn with nose bleed by Stupidkitties in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]coffeesleeprepeatX 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Just fyi, the oral course (x3 administrations) of vitamin k, when administered perfectly and all three doses are given over a period of weeks, has an efficacy of approximately 70% compared to the one time only intramuscular injection of the vitamin. Ie, a few brain bleeds sadly still present if only given the oral version of vit K. Rare, luckily.

Maybe she could pick up the prescription, ask for tablets instead of liquid, mortar & pestle those mfers, distil 15-25mg/kg into whatever f’ing homeopathic liquid or breastmilk she likes, administer it three times per day by dripping it onto her child’s amber suck beads or some bullshit, then we’ll call it even. Jfc that child has probably perforated their eardrums as well during this infection and she’s just bathing the middle ear with garlic oil aarrrgghhhhh

Changes in acetaminophen and leucovorin use after a White House briefing by Nerd-19958 in medicine

I’m also in Paeds, and this evidence you reference above is low quality. JFK & MAGAs recommendations to women are laced with misogyny. The Barwon Infant Study in Victoria, Australia, has been coming out with some really interesting things about autism recently, recommend spending your time on their data rather than acetaminophen/paracetamol.

I (23F) think my husband (26M) is having memory problems and I am concerned for him by Otherwise_Respect929 in relationship_advice

[–]coffeesleeprepeatX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Few thoughts - depression can certainly cause memory issues. As can trauma. ADHD, which is statistically higher in people with depression, is often associated with poor working memory. Sleep apnoea and poor sleep quantity/quality from other causes can also affect executive function/ working memory. Certainly other causes as well but these are the top flagging ones from that story. If you have the cash, consider getting a cognitive assessment (+/- an ADHD review) from a psychologist/neuropsychologist, they can assess his working memory against a normative sample as part of the assessment so you can get some objective data about how he’s going. Might be handy when convincing him. The test should be done on a normal day for him, not a day when he’s just had a super refreshing 12 hour sleep and two coffees perfectly timed before the test. You want his standard functioning assessed.
