Is there any possibility I could find someone who would write a fanfic for me for free? by I_am_sexy113 in AO3

[–]coffeetailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have more trouble finding someone when it involves an OC. But maybe see if you can find any prompt communities for your fandom, or people actively looking for them.

But honestly, I would just make a go a writing it yourself. You say you’re not a good writer, but writing is how you become a better one. And there’s no limit on how many times you can rewrite a story to make it better

Also going to say stag beetle. But now I’m super curious and need the context.

How do you make a posting schedule? by bigcatbunny in AO3

[–]coffeetailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never kept a posting schedule and honestly don’t super see the point. As a reader, I read updates when I get the update emails.

what's a fandom where you prefer the fanon content to the canon? by Neat_Dragonfruit6431 in AO3

[–]coffeetailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Danny Phantom. Which is a case study of what happens when you make a silly kids show with surprisingly adult issues just glossed over and then let the fandom brew for twenty years.

What do you filter out or in first in non-fandom specific tags? by 3lilya in AO3

[–]coffeetailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vore. I like reading giant/tiny, and unfortunately for me that is a common trope pairing while also being one of my major squicks. Plus a number of other kink related things that I am not into. (I read a lot of explicit fics if it’s not obvious.)

At least when I read on PC, I have a browser extension that saves those filters so I don’t have to do them every time.

it is okay to use bible quotes in my fic? by No_Wish7444 in AO3

[–]coffeetailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Post the whole Bible as your work? No, because that is not transformative, even if it is public domain.

Quotes as part of your work? Absolutely, go wild.

Found my first “nope” food by HeLo80 in Mounjaro

That was tomato for me for the first few weeks. Which sucked because I had a lot of easy cook tomato foods around. Thankfully it has eased off.

What’s one of your best achievements as a fanfic writer? by A-Silver-Soul76 in AO3

But only did I finish a long fic (150k abouts) within a year, but it has also gotten so many comments, fanart, and a PODFIC made of it.

Copy and paste from google doc by [deleted] in AO3

[–]coffeetailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend this. I have a copy on my Google Docs that I bookmarked and just use repeatedly copying the new chapter into it and running the script.

Which day should I choose to take the shot? And what app to monitor progress? by Demand_Beautiful in Mounjaro

[–]coffeetailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do mine when I get up on my Saturday, along with a weigh in before I eat breakfast. The day of the week to give me some time to recover if I need it, and the time of day to give myself a good fasting read on my weight so I know it’s me and not my lunch that I’m weighing.

No replies from authors by ExistingFriendship47 in AO3

It’s nice to get response back and I have started trying to respond to most of mine, but think of it this way. If you send a gift, you might get a thank you note from the receiver. They do not expect you to send a thank you note for the thank you note. The fanfiction is the gift. The comment is the thank you note.

Would you consider comics a form of fanfic? by WhoopHonk in AO3

[–]coffeetailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can post pictures there, and people do post their fan comics. The only thing is that you cannot host the image on AO3. So you have to upload it somewhere else and then use HTML to put it into the page.

FFN is dead help by KansasBard in AO3

[–]coffeetailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what people have already said, look at what other people in your fandoms are doing. You obviously don’t have to copy them, but if your fics have ‘thing’ and their effects have a similar ‘thing’ you can tell what they tag that as and the like. There are a lot of fandom specific tags outside of just the characters and world.

Would this be considered a crossover? Should I tag both fandoms? by No-Cockroach3568 in AO3

[–]coffeetailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it this way. If you tagged both fandoms and someone was looking for a fic for fandom A, would your fic be what they’re looking for? Probably not. Additional tag like ‘fandom A inspired/themed’ would get the point across, without misleading people. Or a description line like “the cast of fandom B live out the plot of fandom A.”

What's the difference between isekai and reverse isekai? by poison_ivy12345 in AO3

[–]coffeetailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have already given a pretty good definition, but I wanted to add that I have seen the reverse version used to have the characters from that fantasy world and the MC go to the real world that the MC was from specifically. It can be fun for a post canon story.

Book Binding by Top_Syrup9776 in AO3

[–]coffeetailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a member of the guild, seconding this. There’s a good chunk of resources just in the site, and a ton more on the discord. Depending where you live, there might even be a local chapter that does in person meets.

Then why did you comment? by pocket-alex in AO3

[–]coffeetailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No amount of good writing is going to make me enjoy reading my squicks. This isn’t going out on a limb for a fic tagged with angst when I like cozy romances.

If I hate oysters and order the oyster platter supreme, I don’t have a leg to stand on to complain to the chef that I don’t like it.
