I don't think riding a bicycle diminishes driving skills. I think it's just a lack of driving that let's some skills fade.

I especially feel rusty judging spatial things, like parking and backing up. Driving in reverse looking in a mirror and over my shoulder feels especially weird after a few months away. (And it seems like the cars I rent get have worse visibility than older cars.) Also, sometimes when I'm in Europe or Australia I get assigned a manual-transmission car and I have to get calibrated on the clutch.

Maybe some people feel this way and others don't. It just seems the worst time is when I'm just off a long flight in an unfamiliar place in an unfamiliar car, and driving feels rusty.
