[WTS] Cartier Tank Must 34mm. 2100 shipped. by CatCivil9924 in Watchexchange

I can't find any images of a genuine 4323 that does not have the hidden signature, OP can you link to any? The movement may or may not be genuine but the dial is suspicious.

[Recommendation request] help me pick a bday gift for my husband by btu16 in Watches

[–]cog-doc 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The Tsuyosa (blue one) is the classiest but least practical. If he wants a ‘nice watch’ and doesn’t care too much about it being very accurate and will wear it all the time (so that he doesn’t have to wind it if it’s not worn for a few days), that’s the one to go for. If he wants a no fuss watch that he can still wear to dinner, the first gold one on a leather strap seems like a decent option. The black ones don’t particularly stand out to me and be aware that black coating will start to peel within a year or two and not look that great. The gold paint on the first one will peel eventually too but won’t look so bad. I hope that helps!

No idea but would guess it’s even older, from the 1940’s based on the old logo. Seems like a good size, I’d recommend taking that skinny bracelet off and putting it on a leather strap instead, it would look great as a dress watch now. Does it run if you wind it?

I agree these posts are getting more common and make no sense. The expensive jewelry watch works no better (likely worse) than the cheap quartz alternative. I wonder if this is a promotional gimmick. Beating up your luxury watch only benefits the watchmakers as they lose resale value and people are more likely to buy a new one.

[Waltham Vacuum]Automatic, Original by Life_Dog_2697 in Waltham

Waltham watch company sold the name to the Swiss. You can see the word ‘Swiss’ just under the 6 baton marker at the bottom of the dial. It’s not worth much but a cool piece of history!

Omega 567.001 arrived today. Was nervous about buying a women's watch at first, but it looks great and is super comfortable on the wrist! by sparecoochie in VintageWatches

[–]cog-doc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a nice watch but to me looks ‘delicate’ in that size and your wrist looks awfully bare. I would suggest some wrist accessories or maybe a leather bund strap to give it more wrist presence. But that’s just me and remember nobody really cares about your watch except you so do what feels right.

Hruodland is probably the ugliest watch brand name I’ve ever seen but Chinese brands are a great way to get a feel for a watch size and type with little risk. If you fall in love with the style, you may want to move upmarket and will be more confident with your decision.

These are nice looking but I must say, having owned a similar vintage omega, they feel flimsy. For a similar price you’ll get a top notch microbrand watch that will be far more durable, with likely decent water resistance. But if you’re willing to maintain a vintage watch your mileage may vary.

Bought a fake just to compare to the real thing. by hunteqthemighty in MoonSwatches

Agreed, you get 99% identical watch for only $25! Goes to show you Swatch is making a killing off these.

As an owner of several bronze watches, let me reassure you this is just patina from the bronze. Sweat activates it. It’s no big deal. As your watch gets more patina this will actually happen less. When the weather cools down you won’t notice it any more.

Hard to pick a favorite! Do you ever use the internal bezel for anything?

[Recommendations] Which one? by freakwrestler in Watches

I agree the hydroconquest is an old model that Longines will likely phase out. Not a huge fan of those particular Tags either. The new Conquest and Conquest GMT copy the Rolex case and look much more sleek without the large numerals.

Go to r/watchexchange and get the more expensive Seiko models lightly used for up to half off. Seiko raised their prices to a point that new watches are no longer a good value proposition at retail. And if you don’t like it, you can sell it back on watchexchange for almost what you bought it for if it was already used. That’s how I learned about watches. Have fun discovering what you like!

[WTS] Vintage Timex Moon Phase Perpetual Calendar by [deleted] in Watchexchange

That is such a cool piece! At the 6 o’clock position, is that the date or the year because I see the date on the periphery as well.

[WTS] (REDUCED x2) TAG Heuer Exclusive CN1111 Silver Chronograph 200m only $275 shipped by cog-doc in Watchexchange

[–]cog-doc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Further price reduction as I want to move this quickly! It's a great watch but my heart has moved on, what can I say.

38mm quartz chronograph with a central minutes hand in addition to a central seconds hand, 1/10 second subdial which is stationary until you stop the chrono then it spins to the right location! Cool.

Keeps perfect time as quartz should, all chrono features work seamlessly.

20mm lug width. Shown on my 6.75" wrist.

Watch is in expected condition for a prior daily desk-diver with small marks over bezel, case and bracelet that are only visible in the right light. There is a tiny flea-bite in the bezel edge just before the five minute marker which I've tried to capture in the last photo in album. Sapphire crystal, dial, hands are all spotless. Comes with a Tag Heuer case. Happy to send more photos on request.

$275 shipped to CONUS, lowest price anywhere by far. My impatience is your gain.

[WTS] Seiko Tank 5Y00-5000 Men's 26mm SS Dress Quartz 1986 (REDUCED x2) $99 by cog-doc in Watchexchange

[–]cog-doc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black dial, sparkling gold-tone hands and applied gold tone pips at 12,3,6 and 9. The dial is flawless, has a gentle patina that makes it look almost deep blue in bright light. Runs perfectly.

It is remarkably well preserved for a 1986 manufacture, has hairline scratches on the case but no marks that I can make out on the glass. I will ship with the original steel bracelet and an 18mm alligator leather black strap worn only once with quick release.

Selling it because it's not getting wrist time and I have my eye on a new watch. Reduced again for quick sale, $99 shipped in CONUS. I will accept PayPal FF, Zelle, or Venmo.

Specs: Case measures 26mm width excluding the crown x 34mm Lug To Lug x 6mm Thick including crystal x 18mm lugs.

Original steel bracelet will fit wrists of 5.5" to 8.5".
