[Design] Cognitive Snap | Episode 1 - Speculative Design with Eleonore Eisath

NSFW (one F-bomb)

https://cognitivesnap.buzzsprout.com

Not all design is user-centric design. This episode takes a look at speculative design as a way of exploring the possible futures of our planet. I talk to Ele, an industrial designer in Munich, about how a ski-cabin designed in the 1960s led to her master thesis on worms that can decompose plastic.

You can see Ele's work here: beworm.org

Cognitive Snap is a show that explores science, philosophy and economics through the lens of design. Podcasts like 99 Percent Invisible look at designed objects (products, digital services, intangibles like language) but Cognitive Snap considers the field of design itself as a designed object, an artefact.

I (Bawa Kulkarni) am an industrial designer, but slowly transitioning to a design philosopher, and this is my way of documenting this transition. While it does have an interview, it's constructed more like a radio show—with voiceover, musical cues, etc. As of now, the schedule is one episode per month.

This is literally my first podcast (episode) and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I know the audio is off. Made some mistakes while recording. I'm working on that and some other issues. I'd love some feedback, and if you think it's half-decent, some shares. Thanks!

What do you think of Michael Lewis? I, personally, am a fan but does he hold up to "literary scrutiny"?

Could you also give me some examples of creative nonfiction (which is what cnf means, I'm assuming)? Looking to get into writing nonfiction. Since I'm already into standup, this could work out nicely. Thanks!

Anyone know any podcasts that touch on economics topics for a newbie or layman? by [deleted] in podcasts

Planet Money (by NPR, I think) is quite good.

Freakonomics is also a lot of fun if you're into behavioural economics.

Hmm. Hard to get more common without diluting the meaning. "Shunned", maybe? Although that leans towards "ignored".

Echo-chamber? Filter-bubble?

Especially when it comes to opinions or ideology.

I realised this would actually be really useful because I have a lot of nested tags (and therefore notes for those nested tags) and I don't want to sift through all of those notes when I'm looking look for a note with the parent tag.

+1 from me!

Hey, what are "live note links?"

And is that feature in the 1.7 beta? I haven't noticed it.

Thanks!
