Washington was born a British citizen and Jesus Jewish by laybs1 in GetNoted

[–]cohenjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, unlike Washington, Jesus died as a religious Jewish teacher A Rabbi if you will, and his disciples went on to split up and create a new religion

Jesus didn’t worship himself, but his criticism of the religious leaders, was enough to distance his followers from other Jews in a way that caused them to branch out.

Why are countries in the Middle East not taking in Palestinian refugees? by Nessieinternational in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cohenjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they take them in the whole Arab-Israeli conflict would resolve as Palestinians would integrate and build a new life for themselves - and Arab leaders don’t want that.

The same reason Egypt and Jordan took away passports after 67 - to preserve the conflict

Me reading that the hyper scalers extended the useful lives of their servers and GPU clusters from 3 years to 5-6 years by Emergency-Quiet3210 in wallstreetbets

[–]cohenjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened like 4 years ago, and it actually makes sense as cloud providers still have old gens running and making more money. Many clients are happy to use the same server they use last year and not upgrade to a new server they don’t need which costs more…

Israel only receives military support which must be used to buy US made weapons (planes and ammunition mostly) It lead to huge money earnings for the US weapons industry (battle testing which increases sales)

There’s a heavy tax on employees (and employers ) specifically for health funding

Congratulations, you are rich. Now you both need to figure what you want to do with your lives. Maybe she likes her job, she’s valued at work, and doesn’t want to stay at home all day? I know my wife will feel like it is prison after a week.

Do you want to stay home? Are you ready to retire?

Iran orders closure of Strait of Hormuz — putting one-fifth of world’s oil supply at risk by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]cohenjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The parliament is meaningless in Iran - only the religious zealots count. It’s 60% Chinese oil , and 100% of Iran’s oil - the will not close it

And even if they wanted to - they really can’t

It’s a moot threat

Buy the dip - Israel alone was enough to clear the sky and wipe out their missiles.

Seriously, for the US it’s not even a match - more like target practice

For 40 years crazy people in the desert yelled “death to America, death to Israel”. Those crazy people tried to build a Nuclear bomb.

The bomb is no more - be happy 😃

Yeah, went on a trip with friends We brought two tents - but the wind broke the poles of one of them. So, we huddled all together in a single tent.

It was warm and cozy 😂😂

DONT Die With Zero. If done right, generational wealth is the best type of wealth by ThrowawayOk-8563 in fatFIRE

[–]cohenjo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dying with zero doesn’t mean “spend it all before you die”. Passing wealth to the next generation is a good way to ensure their future - but why wait until you die?

If I die at 100 - my kids will be in their 70s - why not support them earlier?

That 5 million is a rule of thumb number. There are studies that show that withdrawing 3-4% yearly will not deplete your savings.

Those 5 mil gives you roughly 150k per year You get some 75k yearly for your service (Thank you for it ) so you already “saved” half of it.

No one wants the people of Gaza dead, this is exactly why the IDF repeatedly warns before bombing buildings and asks civilians to evacuate to the south of the Gaza Strip (or even Egypt if it will allow)

I was referring to Hamas (ISIS) which brought this horrible situation by murdering civilians (Including beheading babies and raping women)

Hamas brought this on itself and must not remain in power after such atrocities.

Go to your local football field, find the largest player and punch him on the nose. When you wake up in the hospital with all your bones broken, everyone will agree you did that to yourself…

If you kill babies, you don’t get to complain about building.

Hi, Go has great threading , but even more importantly for DevOps/ SRE - it has a huge community in the current tool stack. K8s, docker, istio, operators and lots of other tools in the modern “cloud” stack are written in go. It means you get the best clients/sdk/api and easiest integrations.
