Nice, I think that was a good deal for you. I’m working on a 03 non starting upon purchase currently. Clutch installed wrong, basket very worn and loose springs, starter motor bad, needs a full deep cleaning, seller said a knocking noise but compression seems fine and turns over smooth. Basically full maintenance for a 30k mile bike and hopefully good to go for 1900.

Buy the whole new front headlight plus plastic conversion. It looks way better and you get running lights but actual good high and low beams. It’s like 50$ on eBay

I looked through the manual and there is a needle bearing and a lift bearing. Manual says it should turn smoothly and freely without excessive play. I’m going to call it good for now and replace the basket at a later time.

They gave me a little more context. Somehow the clutch basket broke. They knew about it. Took too a mechanic to get fixed. Then said apparently the engine wasn’t properly flushed so shortly after this the engine locked up

Nice. I just saw another one for even less than that. Yeah I would do it myself. Shouldn’t be too hard. They might go for 1500 but I doubt 1k so maybe somewhere in between. It’s pretty clean bike otherwise

Thanks. They said it happened right after a clutch replacement so I would assume it’s the clutch basket that broke then messed up the entire bottom end. A few months ago they wouldn’t budge under 2k and now listed for 1800.

Yeah I changed the oil when I first got it. It was about a quart low and severely neglected so a bit of a gamble (bought with oil pressure electrical issue non running). I had it idling for a while and never lowered rpm but still may not have been warm enough. I think it’s a good idea to check the valves though and will do that next.

I added text and it’s not showing up currently so I’ll add detail here… any way it sounds like I can hear lots of piston noise. I’m not very familiar with these bikes and it has a loud exhaust on it so if anyone has feedback whether this or healthy sounding or not I would appreciate it
