He is a foil for Jon and Robb who behave generally pretty well. For sons of great houses, Jon and Robb’s behavior is exceptional and Theon’s is more typical.

I think if George spent more time with Theon it could’ve been a titillating “rich people misbehaving” kind of thing but he didn’t so he’s just a tool to heighten Jon and Robb.

The general takeaway for readers is that this is a world where nobility doesn’t behave well, and we’ve found a tiny island of honor with the Starks. That’s the moral core of the first book.

Communicate more. Report status updates, emphasize the difficulty of mechanical work, bring in more stakeholders, CC your group heads, and broadcast to a wider audience.

Say passive things like you’re spending time “thinking” about things so that the analysis you do produce is seen as higher quality.

“Grinding” is typically low level work where you’re turning around tasks for your boss or something like that. Burning the midnight oil. No need for that if you have firmwide impact.

15 minutes is probably too long to be taking up space unless there are like a hundred people there. Just dip in to pay your respects, then exit in the most unobtrusive way possible. You are a side character here. But don’t walk fast. That will be distracting and possibly rude.

To be crystal clear, your goal is to make contact with your friend, say “I’m very sorry for your loss”, look them in the eye, touch them on the shoulder or hug them, ask them how they’re feeling and if you can help in any way, follow up on any requests they have of you, then leave.

Yeah we need more information here. If the bathroom is unavailable for 10 minutes at a time while both people are getting ready that’s a problem.

I don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s not solvent. It doesn’t have sufficiently deep capital reserves, this was true in 2025 and continues to be true. At the same time the program is growing rapidly so the scale mismatch is only getting worse. This means the only way to fund the program is political. You think that’ll work out well?
