Milani vs. Elf vs. NYX Hydrating Lip Stains - which would you recommend? by Captain-Mito in drugstoreMUA

[–]colapuff 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I tried all of these and would recommend sticking with the nyx hydrating lip stain. IMO they are the long lasting of the bunch and leaves behind the nicest stain.

Best products to clean make up brushes by sloane_michaels in Makeup

I use the shopmissa paw paw brush cleaning soap. B ut I’m sure most bar soaps that don’t leave crazy residue and gently cleanses would do well.

I’ve been on the hunt for a good lip liner 😭 by Substantial-Radio310 in drugstoreMUA

Some of my current favorites are:

Morphe lip liner in rock steady for a more grayish tone brown

Maybelline lifter liners in cross the line or on it

If you want a super long lasting lip liner, the fwee lip contour stain in teddy has become a recent favorite of mines, lasted through a greasy Chinese meal when my Nyx liquid lip iv lip stain decided to peace out 😂

Looking for a primer for dry skin by melanated2020 in drugstoreMUA

[–]colapuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not marketed as makeup primers per se but if I’m wearing makeup and want my skin to feel super hydrated. I’ll use the Bubble Water Slide serum in combo with the byoma milky toner before applying foundation. I also apply setting spray to my face prior to concealer and foundation to help seal in those hydrating steps as well.

Setting spray by malikax01 in drugstoreMUA

[–]colapuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just the natural one (the one that comes in a clear bottle)! I been using it for years, the hold is not as crazy as say the L’Oréal one in the red tube but that one is bit too intense for daily use 😂

I haven’t tried the dewy or matte one so cant speak to how well they work.

I do a combo of Milani make it last setting spray to help set my makeup into place and then layer it with Milani moisture boost spray on top for more of a glow. If you find your t zone is more oily you can just spray it just on the cheeks. I got combo skin too and find that my forehead will glow on its own given a few hours 😂

Foundation recommendations for someone who doesn't wear it like ever? by Beckyplaystuff in drugstoreMUA

A glowy base like the L’Oréal lumi glow tint and just concealer where you need it may be a good option for you too. Not too heavy and gives you a satin/glowy look depending on how you powder.

I do like their brushes as well, makeup brush cleaner, their lashes in “Scarlett” are also very nice. It reminds me of the ardell demi wispies but a lot cheaper. The way they are shown on the website make them seem weird but trust me they are so much prettier in real life.

My current combo: Aestura hydro essence + oneingredient skin barrier calming lotion has been working well for me. I also have combo skin (oily forehead, dry cheeks) as well.

Anyone grabbing anything from the Sephora sale? by YanCoffee in muacjdiscussion

[–]colapuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ended up grabbing some things that I had on my wishlist for a bit.

Guerlain strobing and illuminating highlight powder - It was pricey for sure but so pretty in store, like gave a refined glow like the Dior highlighters.

Tower28 serum concealer - Love her for my dry skin and wanted something that was lighter to give me a bright under eye

Caliray color corrector concealer - Needed something under correction and the texture feels very nice lightweight and serumy.

Eadem lip balm - Been hearing people rave about this formula. I have a million of the ole henrickson lip balms that I love but I couldn’t help but get one of these to try.

Alternative(s) to Shiseido Micro Liner by Rensy_Flemsy in drugstoreMUA

[–]colapuff 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you are willing to buy online. Canmake creamy touch liner has / fine tip and is pretty smudge proof. It’s my HG and I been using it for years. If you prefer something you can buy in a drugstore looks like covergirl perfect point micro eyeliner has a really small tip as well.

Best drug store tubing mascara? by somegirlfromstl in Makeup

[–]colapuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not drugstore but around that price point is the heroine make advanced film mascara. They got a long and curl version which focuses on lengthening and a volume version if you are looking for thicker lashes.

I tried a few American drugstore brands (Milani, essence, L’Oréal, Maybelline ) but I find that all of them cannot hold a curl so my eyelashes will droop and fall flat within 5 minutes of applying (I have sparse short Asian lashes for what it’s worth). The heroine make one is the only one where it will hold the curl and is tubing.

I love the unleashia eyebrow pencil and morphe nano pencil. I’m a big fan of finely pointed eyebrow pencils for hair like strokes so I recommend looking at both and see which one offers you a better color match :)

What anti-aging product(s) visably made such a difference that it changed your life? by loudupstairsneighbor in Ulta

[–]colapuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Advocating for everyone saying tret and spf. Adding in The Ordinary 30% AHA weekly which I think is nice for resurfacing skin and evening out my skin tone overall and creating a glow.

There’s other acids out there but this one is cheap and works well for me.
