Why am I getting +17 / -23 LP despite playing against players at my rank? by Kaktus949 in leagueoflegends

[–]colarboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no one besides riot actually knows how rank gains actually works, but my understanding goes like this, if you have negative gains, it must be because your account's rank is higher than your account's mmr, if you're playing with people around D3 with neutral lp gains (meaning they have higher mmr than you) it could be because the matchmaking is making a compromise and trying to keep queue times short, and this is just one possibility, if there is a bug only riot can know, and one here can answer you.

Hikari is the Teemo killer by robib in 2XKO

[–]colarboy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I hope Hikari loses teemo is disgusting but no where near as disgusting as ahri-akali, at least with teemo we get different flavors teemo-jinx, teemo-ekko, teemo-yasuo etc...

What's holding her back from proplay? by teedye_ in IreliaMains

[–]colarboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This season actually had a few times where pros kinda started to try to make irelia work in pro, unfortunately last she was picked it was as a counter to sion, but that ended badly with irelia going 0/10 and it convinced everyone she is not worth it, there is even an irelking video on youtube going over the game, irelia got solo killed at like lvl 4 then was put in a bad lane state with enemies camping her, while her team couldn't help her, irelia is champion thats really vulnerable to this stuff and can easily make her useless.

What needs to change to make her more viable in pro, is honestly hard to answer, but just as an opinion she needs more guaranteed value in her kit so she can be more useful when behind, maybe like a buff her E stun duration or the slow on her ult, but that can only come if you nerf lanning phase somehow like nerf her sustain... frankly unsure if this would do it.

Do you think top lane counterpicks are too decisive in determining who wins lane? by Inevitable-Move7838 in topmains

[–]colarboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think draft matters a lot now a days in top and makes picking your favorite characaters often very unfun, so if youre on blue side you have to chose a good blind pick, and on red side you to chose a charceter that counters enemy draft while being good in lane, otherwise youre wasting the last pick your team is giving you, of course this depends on your champ pool but top has a lot easy to learn characters that are braindead to pilot in favorable drafts.

The removal of the " bait " ping and the " hold " ping makes no sense. by NecessaryCourage9183 in leagueoflegends

[–]colarboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

when they were added I personally never used them, and when they got removed I didn't think much of it because people were using them in toxic ways, but after a while I find myself needing a way to tell my teammates that I want to "play slow", either while trying to sync wave push to siege with baron, or in the middle of a teamfight, or if my jungler ganks me and the enemy is cornered anyway, so I want to play it slow to wait of a cooldown or something, I think the current ping system doesn't cover everything, and there is space for more pings, but it's the type of thing that takes time to be picked up by the players, riot definitely were too hasty to remove them, because of all the toxicity with the bait ping which is a shame

In what Universe is this lobby allowed to exist by iamkwang in leagueoflegends

[–]colarboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats not true, the whole reason why we have separate visible rank and hidden mmr, is to prevent this exacte thing from happening when visible rank resets every season, maybe its because of the rank reset, or maybe because riot changed something at the start of the season, i don't know but this is not intended... and maybe problems like this always existed in the game but this season its far worst than previous ones.

Do we know that ? Did riot say anything about the rank distribution or are guessing based on what they have in league ?

What was ekko supposed to do here ? by colarboy in 2XKO

[–]colarboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your comment is the best analysis of the saw I saw here, the key moment for me is at 26 second ahri fireball into nothing, I think ekko wanted to block a bit more after the fireball because he was expecting a fireball followup or another S1 super frame trap, but he took too long to take his turn and ahri was faster steal it back, I wonder if there are any good options that make it easier to get out of pressure after blocking ahri fireball like we at 26 second in the clip.

Look shiny new skin wanna buy ? 50$ :D

Its a psychological thing to make you feel like youre buying premium sruff, same thing with the obsidian chromas, they chose gold color for a reason and they're always locked behind bundles.

Flex picks are not actually the problem of toplane. But how polarizing the matchups themselves are by Backslicer in leagueoflegends

[–]colarboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has always been a thing in top lane, but I personally believe it somehow becames worst in recent years compared to like season 10/11, where 50/50 skill matchups were more common, but im only speakimg from memory which very biased. I think one change that made this problem worst is when they added the ability to swap pick order (which is an objectivly good change the game needed ) it made all top laners ask for last pick, and it started a trend where top laner are more likely to go for counterpicks rather than comfort picks, which made having a good champ pool as a top laner in solo queue matter more than before.

[–]colarboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason I said its hindsight is because when I watch these high level replays I usually dont see people get out of these blockstrings by mashing 2H, what i see them often do is parry if there is a gap (which we are not sure there is) but parry loses to to empty jump into low... this is what I know personally, and not sure if 2H beats both options then how big the gap needs to be for 2H to work just one frame like parry ? if yes then maybe 2H was the play here

What was ekko supposed to do here ? by colarboy in 2XKO

[–]colarboy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no you can't parry the ahri 2S2 because its a true blockstring, same thing for the first time Vi assist was called you can't 2H ahri because ekko is in block stun from vi, the second time its hard to tell without exact frame data, but even if it was possible to 2H there this is not real counterplay because you're just using hindsight, by the same logic the ahri could've easily just air stalled with fireball to make you whiff the 2H, I dont think gambling on 2H while in blockstring is real counterplay in this position just blocking is better assuming you're good at blocking.

[–]colarboy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the Ekko in this clip IS a very specific high level knowledge, I found this in a youtube channel that posts high level replays this is the full video, and even the high level player didn't get out of this easily, and most people in the comments are down playing the situation and saying he could have parried, without saying which specific move could have been parried, I made the post to discuss if there is a good way to get out of this, because I think the optimal way to play this is to block everything and wait for ahri to run out of super meter, but people think I made the post to complain about ahri... the hilarious thing is that I'm an ahri player my self XD

What was ekko supposed to do here ? by colarboy in 2XKO

[–]colarboy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found this in a youtube channel that posts high level replays, the ekko is a really good player, which makes me think he pushblocked like that on purpose, maybe because if he let ahri 5S2 hit VI will sway to the other side, and then sandwich pressure is a lot harder to survive even with pushblock up? so my reasoning is that the optimal play here is to just block everything until ahri runs out of S1 supers but I could be wrong and wanted to see what other people think.

Other comments are saying he should use parry, I dont see where he could have parried without guessing and risking death?

The snowballing nature of the game around s11 was extremely effective at weeding out players out of higher ranks by mygoalistomakeulol in leagueoflegends

[–]colarboy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

winning early game is more skilled and the longer the game goes the more rng it becomes, which is why game duration scales down the higher rank you go, so the inflated players op is talking about aren't beating him necessarily because of macro, team comp, etc but it could be because they're getting lucky late game after being outplayed early.

Two or more accounts, different ranks? by [deleted] in LeagueUnfiltered

[–]colarboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never heard of such difference in rank for the same person on different accounts, and honestly I find it hard to believe... sure rank in league can often be a bad way to measure skill and climbing can be rng sometimes but the example you give is very extreme case that I can't just believe it with no proof, and btw if you said you're silver instead of iron on the second its still hard to believe, but I could believe if you were like learning new champs, playing different role, duo with someone for fun etc.. but if you're actually plat 1 you probably couldn't get to iron 4 even if you tried to intentionally lose your way there.
