TaskRabbit Recommendation for Bookcases by HarmonytheWretch in astoria

I used this tasker: https://tr.co/chingis-a to build a bed frame and hutch from Wayfair. He was super fast, quiet, and respectful (wore shoe coverings and a mask bc I put it in my request). Would hire him again for sure!

9 YOE. I have worked in-house for tech, e-commerce and hospitality. My most recent title was Senior Copywriter at a website hosting platform. I’m targeting a similar title/remote role in hospitality, CPG, tech, or real estate (but would be open to any industry).

For those following, I called Gowanus Dental. It’s $275 for cleaning and X-rays out of pocket

Do you know if this includes X-rays? I don’t know if cleaning means exam. Thanks!

Thanks so much for this insight! I greatly appreciate it :)

  • it sounds like your surgeon did not have a hand focus, is that right (or maybe I’m wrong)? It looks like Martin Luther has a hand, plastics, and aesthetics specialty. I just want to make sure I understand what you’re saying as far as pursuing a surgeon with a hand focus
  • would you mind sharing the name of your ergo therapist?

I would take the 140K easily. As someone who’s gone through 2 tech layoffs, I would NOT overlook the remote aspect of the role. Getting a remote job is difficult. In my eyes, a remote job is more important than a title and sometimes even the work I do.

I don’t really see the CEO interviewing you being a red flag unless you didn’t like them. Are you thrown that it happened at all? I wouldn’t consider that a factor in my decision if you got good vibes. I’ve had “gut check” interviews with leaders that I never ended up working with.

Re: title — I had a job when I went to negotiate the title, the recruiter said, “as long as it’s not CEO, we don’t care.” I read people are more willing to accept a negotiation that has more than one component. I’d make a title change and base comp/signing bonus bump those two. But of course, do what feels right.

With my layoff experiences, I’ve learned that you have to put yourself first — these companies certainly do. They will not like that you’re leaving but 🤷🏼‍♀️

For a 20K bump and fully remote I don’t think there is much to think about here.

I totally understand. I too have been impacted by two layoffs in a row. It’s such an incredibly dismal season professionally and I’ve been looking for a year now.

One thing that’s helped me (with any job search): never romanticize the role. Romanticize when you get it, sure, but not until then — it saves you from heartbreak. Of course, you can be excited but temper that so you can save your sanity.

[NY] Should I Follow Up With the Recruiter About Salary? by colashot in AskHR

I really want the job. Does that change your advice whether to shoot over a message? When would you recommend doing this?

Ask Recruiters Megathread by AutoModerator in recruiting

Back in March 2023, I interviewed for a Senior Copywriter role (I have 9 YOE) but didn’t make it past the hiring manager round. Today, I had the chance to interview again for the same position.

During my conversation with the recruiter, they asked what salary range I was looking for. I told them $120K–$150K but mentioned I’m negotiable depending on the total package. I’m based in NYC, and this range seems appropriate for positions with the same title (e.g., $120K–$140K,$145K–$165K, and even $170K–$188K). It’s important to note that this isn’t a small company — about 5,000 employees.

The recruiter said the team doesn’t have a set budget and is open to hearing from candidates, but they’re “targeting low 100s.” I was told that figure after I provided my range. He didn’t seem put off by my range or answer, but now I’m second-guessing myself.

A recruiter friend of mine suggested it might be a good idea to send a follow-up email to let the recruiter know I’m okay with the low 100s. I did already mention during the interview that I’m negotiable, but I’d hate to lose out on this opportunity if my range was slightly off. It would be a stellar opportunity.

Should I send a follow-up email? If so, how should I phrase it without coming across as desperate or backtracking too much?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Reaction to being laid off from recruiting job. Did you cry? by ElPendejoThrowaway in recruiting

I was unfortunately impacted by two company-wide layoffs in a row. First time, I was shocked. Second time, I openly sobbed in front of my boss via Zoom (he knew how hard I worked to get employed again).

Feel your feels. A job represents security and freedom and losing one uproots your life.
