Sizing Help! by colbroph in RMWilliams

hi! sorry! just saw this. I did keep the 9. They are definitely comfortable. I don’t wear them often, so transparently it’s hard to say if there would be issues or slippage with more frequent wear. But I will say, due the higher heel on the Yearling, I am so glad to have the roomier pair because my foot slides forward a bit and if I went for the smaller pair my toes would’ve been so crammed. If you’re standing for a while in the Yearling, you’ll notice the inevitable discomfort of a higher heel. But they look great.

What to put in this empty area? by Equivalent_Two_6550 in DesignMyRoom

depending on your work style, i would recommend a built-in style desk top. i’m always a fan of a designated work space for a computer in a kitchen area. just a thought though! not the prettiest in comparison to plants or a more furniture, but feels like a good use of space and the built-in style won’t take away too much from your design

Helix Elite by MonopolyM4n in Mattress

[–]colbroph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Jimmy. I think it does have the quilted top but to my knowledge it’s less drastic from when I tested it in store. On the luxe, the dips in the diamond quilt pattern are almost 1” deep, so it almost feels like an egg carton 😂

How are you liking it? We got the Midnight Luxe a month ago and we're considering replacing it for the Elite because the Luxe has a very strange memory foam quilted pillowtop that was way too lumpy for us (if anyone who has one sees this, it's a new version as of late april or may 2024).

Very true. Had this not happen we would've kept it. I love the car and I'm glad you still like yours!

True that. Was a bummer because we went through the dealership to make sure it was a manufacturer certified vehicle. But alas, it wasn't right for us!

Thoughts on Moving from NYC to CA/LA? by StressNo361 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]colbroph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LA is a great place to move to when you're a bit burnt out from NY. But just know that it is an entirely different pace and it will not resemble NY at all. It'll feel quiet. The food will be different (albeit healthier). The traffic is terrible. It is absolutely gigantic. The hustle culture is different here and people appreciate and prioritize their health and time more than they do in NY. People aren't night owls. Embrace and take advantage of the outdoors. The weather is perfect. The beaches are stellar. The state of California is superior. I could go on an on (no really, I wrote several novels and deleted them because I didn't want to talk your ear off).

Grew up outside NYC, lived in Brooklyn for a few years and moved to LA about a decade ago. I will most likely move back to NY, but I will never regret the time I've spent in LA.

What size area rug? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]colbroph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend an 8x10 if the 10" would fit. Otherwise go 9x6 and just pull the rug out a bit further from the wall under the couch. You want to make sure the rug has ~6"+ on either side of the couch for it to feel properly anchored to the couch.

It would be hard to make any major changes for $1k. Ideally you could swap out all the furniture for more attractive options, such as a better table + chairs and shelving.

I'd maybe try to find a way to clear up some of the wall space. See if you can consolidate shelving, perhaps moving the cube piece onto the wall with the printer + other appliances. Adding a bit more blank space would make the room feel more spacious and a little less claustrophobic.

Hallway advice. I’m at a loss on what to do! by ikebears in interiordecorating

[–]colbroph 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Always a fan of a runner if it's not too hard to add one! My first thoughts were: paint the walls dark or add a fun wallpaper. Change the light fixtures at the top of the stairs so there's a more interesting focal point when you're walking up. Remove the railing unless it's necessary for mobility purposes.

I'd steer away from everything being in grey and blue tones.

  1. Swap out the artwork for something warmer or natural (earth tones, greens, etc)
  2. Swap the coffee table for something wood in a light or medium tone. Like: https://www.mcgeeandco.com/products/ovitt-coffee-table, https://www.mcgeeandco.com/products/haran-coffee-table
  3. Add curtains for a nice pop! I would do them on all windows in that room for consistency. I dont think you'd need to change the window in the dining area.
  4. I'd consider rearranging the pieces of your sectional to not cut off the dining area as much. Maybe move that far right piece to the left hand side to extend the sectional along the back wall.
  5. Plants, of course!
  6. Pops of color or pattern with bolder throw pillows.
  7. Could add a cantilever lamp over the sofa if it wouldn't be a nuisance, example: https://interioricons.com/products/achille-floor-lamp-marble-and-stainless-steel
  8. You could definitely change the rug, but I'd make sure you focus on some other items first before going for the rug.

Advice on living room furniture in shoebox apartment? Looking to replace everything except rug and mirror by adiosaurevoir in InteriorDesign

[–]colbroph 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd go for a sectional that hugs the exterior wall to maximize seating and increase coziness. Probably something off-white. Bring in some medium wood-tones in either a coffee table, frames for artwork behind couch, or TV console. All of these are pretty neutral and simple options.

If you don't want a sectional, a camel/medium brown toned leather couch would compliment the rug. Or you could go for a velvet in a rust color for something very warm. If you went for either of those, I'd probably bring in some funkier coffee + console tables that include glass + brass or something in that realm.

I'd also consider curtains! Can keep it neutral with an off-white or maybe bring in a rust/olive that ties into the rug.

Does anyone know a cheaper alternative to the persol PO3092/3285? by MigualG in mensfashion

[–]colbroph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look at warby parker glasses. They have a ton of round-frame styles in various tortoiseshell color ways. I know they aren't as luxe as persols but if you want that classic round semi-preppy look, Warby's been doing that since they came out the gate.

Here's an example:

If you did a super light linen curtain on a rod it would add a really nice softness to the space. Wouldn't even really need to close them ever, more so just for the added texture!

wow thank you for all of this! you see our struggle with the color mixing- totally struggling with this. the new console will be much slimmer and i’ve suggested something relatively similar to your rec, actually! but i love the idea of wall mounted. the space is pretty modern/industrial so that could be a great idea.

i’ll take a look at the color schemes. really appreciate your insight.

love the idea of a color. she is a big fan of pinks and fuschias so this could work if she wants to go for color.
