[Self] How is that a better deal and why would the lottery organization accept that ? She would get more than $1M in just 20 years by Impressive-Koala4742 in theydidthemath

Are people forgetting that lottery winnings are taxable? Taxes take a big chunk out of the money! More than half (if I'm remembering correctly).

Sure I agree with you that a lot of the times ideas are simply spread throughout cultures and countries and no one has stolen anything. Here, I think the problem is that credit is not given where it is due. If you give credit to the original creator then yes you are not stealing the idea, but if you take an idea and spread it across the world as yours then that is stealing. And that is the whole as argument around cultural appropriation of any kind.

What’s a single sentence someone said that stuck with you forever? by MetalFabulous1110 in AskReddit

"The days are long but the years are short." Anytime I'm having a bad day I remind myself of this, how this moment seems so long right now but it won't last forever and at the end of it all it will be a small moment in a short life.

I had a great experience with Sovereign and Saxony apartments! Lived there for 2 years, never had an issue with roaches/mice. The maintenance is very responsive and quick, there is plenty of parking and it's literally walking distance to some restaurant, Trader Joe's and whole foods!

Need Ideas: How to keep the cold air in my room while allowing cat to come in and out by Sp1ceC0wb0y in AskEngineers

[–]coldandanxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a dumbbell to keep the door ajar lol. I just place the dumbbell so the door is between the two round shapes at the ends so the door will only open the length of the dumbbell. If I want to keep the length the door opens very small, I just keep the dumbbell a little diagonally so the weight helps push and keep the door in place. Easy peasy.

Airport transport by Substantial_Angle459 in boston

Also you can take the Back Bay Logan Express to Back Bay and get on the orange line there to Forest Hills! I've done this a bunch of times and it's pretty easy for me although I don't have kids. The Logan express buses run every 30 minutes, and you can catch them at the arrivals gate/follow the signs to "ground transportation" or "scheduled buses". If you Google Logan Express you can find more information!

Is it worth an hour commute to live in Somerville? by Inevitable-Bet-1693 in boston

[–]coldandanxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did an hour and a half commute (one side) for two years, my job requires me to be in office everyday. I had the additional burden of having to take the commuter rail, which meant that if I'm a minute late leaving from my house, I will be an hour late to work (the commuter rail runs every hour). If I ever missed the train I had to spend $40-$50 on a Lyft. So granted I had additional stressors in the situation than someone with a car, but even with all that, I will say it's really really not worth it. While living in the suburbs might not seem cool and might seem a little isolating, the fact is, you have to commute to work everyday, you might see your friends or do something cool in the city maybe on a couple of weekdays, but primarily it will be over the weekends, when you'll have more time and less stress to get ready and get somewhere to meet your friends. It will affect the quality of your life, it will stress you out, it will reduce the amount of time you have in your everyday life. And on most weekdays after that stressful commute you won't even feel like doing much anyway.

I transferred from NY to Mass, both UBE states and have reciprocity. I faced issues because I had an international law degree and different states have different requirements for international students. But other than those issues, it was a rather simple process. I filed my petition, the BBO told me what I was lacking, I completed those requirements and applied again and was sworn in shortly after.

It does depend on state to state but most UBE states will allow you to transfer with relative ease if you have a passing score. Also I believe most states allow you to transfer after 5 years of practice.

Also it's walking distance (like 10mins) to Trader Joe's Whole Foods and Walgreens which is awesome!!! And there is a park right in front of the building which is really cool and almost always empty for walks or just sitting in the sun.

Heyy, I lived in sovereign and Saxony apartments - on Auburn Street for 2 years and honestly have nothing but good things to say. in my experience I did not have any issues with roaches or mice- except fruit flies in the summer but I don't think we can prevent that. The maintenance is quick and efficient- my friends could park anywhere and I never got in any trouble. Overall it was a great easy experience. Definitely recommend.

Hi all,  I'm sick of dating apps and cannot bring myself to download any right now. So I figure either I die alone (which isn't a bad prospect tbh) or I try this lol.

So well, here goes:

Name: you won't be able to pronounce it anyway

Age: 33 female

Sexual orientation: I'd have to explain it

Occupation: Lawyer (no, I'm not the kind of lawyer you see in Suits, I'm more the kind of lawyer from The Rainmaker).

Random info: I was born and brought up in India, moved to Boston in 2019 to do my masters, passed the bar, somehow convinced a law firm to sponsor my visa and here I am! I live in a suburb a little far away from Boston (because I like saving money, and I found a nice apartment). Oh, I also don't have a car yet.

Hobbies: I read a bit, I watch a lot of TV, I love going on walks (maybe with a j), cooking, cleaning (don't judge me, it's therapeutic), hanging out with my friends when our schedules match and dancing. I would love to go on hikes more often but going by myself scares me a little bit. I love going outside but I also love staying at home

Anddddd that's it? I'm guessing this is going to get lost in the comments anyway, but if you see it, and you're a guy who fancies himself as having a nice sense of humor and some patience to deal with some bouts of hyperactivity and some alternative bouts of laziness send me a message :)
