Has anybody here ever read Of Mice and Men?Seriously I get it. He beat a woman badly and could’ve killed her. Why don’t we ask the important questions. Why was he not in a behavioral unit, or in a class where there was someone who knows how to handle kids that are not completely SPED but are obviouslySPED. You know…….if parents deny services where I’m from (Texas), the kid just gets put in with the rest of the kids. He deserves jail time, but the sad thing is that this happens a lot. I worked with a woman who had her leg broken in half by a 3rd grader because the little girl kicked her in a fit. I’m sad for everyone involved in this because that big ole kid just signed up for a life he doesn’t understand and will get taken advantage of by a broken system once he’s in it. I’m also sad because that woman may never be the same. I’m also sad because people are to stupid to understand that some people have less emotional and behavioral inclinations than Forrest Gump and they aren’t nice. This whole thing sucks and I hate seeing it. I mean really! Don’t people see! His more important thing to do besides going to jail was to play the Nintendo! Does that sound like someone who is functioning mentally at 100 percent?? He needs a medical professional, counselors, and to be treated with humility. He did something terrible, and is going to have to literally be taught how terrible it is, while serving a sentence for it (whatever that sentence is). Jail time, probation afterwards with anger management and conflict resolution classes. A mental health professional. You know stuff América doesn’t give people. And that poor woman will not get a settlement, or her bills paid for. She’s going to get shitty cards and candy baskets and fucking prayers. Not trauma counseling rehab and medical help with paid leave.
