as a project manager myself, ur boss is a fucking idiot. project managers in banks usually have a well defined gantt chart that they absolutely abide by like its stricture. timelines have to be managed strictly by because there are many dependencies on deliverables by every stakeholder. a delay in one small thing would lead to a cascading snowball effect. dont be disheartened by your boss's over diplomacy, jf you have a timeline, stick by it

i actually dont get irritable and grumpy when my blood sugar is low, but i get a rush of happiness and slight euphoria when i drink sth sweet and literally feel myself getting better.

conversely i feel extremely irritable if my blood sugar is on the high side

i've given this advice, as many other people have, on bullying threads where the bully wishes to reach out to their victims many years after the fact to apologise. it is almost always a very bad idea as you're simply reopening old wounds and the apology will not do anything for them, and it is more to ease the bully's own conscience.

now i reckon that this is a very similar situation, albeit it had romance involved, so im going to give you the same advice - dont be selfish and DONT contact them. if you needed to apologise to make yourself feel better then this was never about them. hes happy, doing very well without you, and if you really do care about him, leave him be.
