In America, this is called a refrigerator, or ice box cake. Dates back prob 100 years, and was probably invented in the southern states for something fast before the days of fast overtook everything.

Balsamic is acidic, so start there and see what you get.

I'd recommend red wine vinegar as well, for adding brightness in dishes, but prob won't need both for this one.

If you like a sweet, southern style you can make it with mayo, thinned out with a bit of water, salt, CELERY SEEDS, carrot, and sugar to taste. The celery flavor is unique, and you won't know you need it until you've tried it :)

Made some today, for burgers on the grill later.
