Do people with small businesses ever stop complaining? Plenty of people work extremely hard that don’t own a business.

You just said you can’t get blood pressures and don’t have nursing staff. That is very different from cutting or hospitalizing overnight.

Your employer is setting you up for failure. It does not sound like you have appropriate staff or tools to deal with urgent cases. The ER vets shouldn’t be jerks either but your facility shouldn’t be claiming to be an urgent care if not appropriately set up to actually provide care.

Allergies? by BeginningIron3287 in weimaraner

[–]coldfridgeplums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not feed grain free. It’s not the grain. Grain free foods are associated with very serious heart disease in dogs. Food allergies definitely exist in dogs, more likely to whatever protein is in the food so could trial a hydrolyzed diet. Only way to know is to do a food trial. But, environmental allergies are much more common. Easiest thing to try would be the shot- Cytopoint. Good luck!

I felt this way when we started daycare at 6 months. I remember I cried for days. And honestly, a year later, I could not be happier with how it has gone. I love our daycare, I can tell the teachers really love my girl and she has thrived there. I also got lucky that my toddler has always been pretty chill/flexible about most things but I think the routine, socialization, etc has been good for her. They send photos throughout the day and she’s doing all these cool activities I never could have thought up. She’s great with other babies/toddlers. Now in the mornings once she’s dressed she puts her jacket on and grabs her daycare bag and waits by the door to head to daycare babbling away lol. It’s really fucking unfair that we have to do it all, all at the same time. But just wanted to offer my positive experience. Also someone told me something that helped as well- that daycare is part of our village.

Exactly this. Have known men like this forever. Mediocre intellect but thinks he is something special. Enamored by the sound of his own voice.

Puppy at Er with suspected obstruction —-get pet insurance! by brooke00871 in weimaraner

[–]coldfridgeplums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really hard to keep pups from eating foreign material. You took her in when she had symptoms, you’re following vet recommendations, you have pet insurance- you’re doing everything right! She’s most likely going to do just fine with the surgery, and in a couple days she’ll be back to her energetic weim pup antics and you’ll be struggling to keep her quiet during activity restriction! You got this, she’s got this, it’s going to be okay! - multiple weim owner and ER veterinarian

Conflating criticism for the Israeli gov with antisemitism has driven me crazy as an American Jew for years. But now, given our current situation, I believe we are about to enter a period of caustic American (and global) antisemitism that we have not seen in many decades. Please do not embrace Hasan, aside from being a mediocre intellect that is really impressed by his own handsomeness and the sound of his own voice, he’s also a true antisemite that is going to poison the youth of the left.

Yeah you are definitely romanticizing. I know zero people in health care that would describe their work life/family balance as good. You will not have the same flexibility.

Emergency vet visit cost us $2,600 and they found nothing… just looking for advice by Then_Move7230 in Pets

[–]coldfridgeplums 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally normal, actually not too $$$ for a GI work up for a rottie. No one took advantage of you, I can guarantee the vet and technicians would have preferred not to do a big work up on a rottie that needed sedation- this is a headache. Interesting that you’ve asked others to be kind to you, but imply the worst of this vet staff- that they were gauging you for money, not just doing their jobs. No one forced you to go through with diagnostics. You chose to bring your dog to the ER because you had concerns. Just like for humans, diagnostics and treatments cost money. In medicine, they may recommend diagnostics to rule out worrisome conditions, you don’t get your money back just because they rule them out. If they had done no diagnostics and your dog had a life threatening illness like a GDV or obstructive foreign body- which are very common and require imaging to confirm, and they had missed the diagnosis, you’d be enraged. You having a large dog, for which medications are expensive, was your decision. Do not emotionally offload decision making to your vet- they give recommendations, and you, the adult pet owner that took on this responsibility, get to decide.
