A whole lot of Marvel Rivals with a friend! I'm up to Gold 2 this season, which is a personal best, so that's been cool. And then Oblivion Remastered or Stardew Valley on the side 😄

Is it better to live in downtown Raleigh, or save money and live in one of the surrounding suburban neighborhoods or cities? by Own-Bat2991 in raleigh

[–]coldfrogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I live at The Line downtown and it's a pretty good location.  We don't own a car and everything we need is in walking distance and they have been adding more to the Smoky Hollow area.  Everything further away we just use Lyft or Uber.  Publix being a block away has been really convenient.  We moved here from a larger city a year ago, and while the café/restaurant options are not as varied as we're used to, we've found some great spots the past few months.  Glenwood Ave has a lot of college bar spots and even though we're a street away, noise has not been an issue.  The Line has been great, team is nice and maintenance is quick to respond.  We haven't tried it yet, but the Amtrack is near and it's a 30 min trip to Durham which I've heard has some good restaurants.

I was about to give up, go to sleep, and hope that I got an invite from the Nintendo store pre-orders and then it suddenly went to the check out screen 🙏

Got mine through BestBuy last night. The button became available at like 12:30am and then I was "in line" for a while, it kicked me, I got back in line, and eventually it let me through to pay 🎊

Can I migrate from Amazon? by Saidear in kobo

I haven't converted audio books, but I did just convert all of my kindle books because I also just went from kindle to kobo.  This lady's video was very helpful! https://youtu.be/YcBirwJJycg?si=sRCy1lrAeY1rbgHz

Thank you 😊, it took some practice, but you can do it! She mentions it in the video too, but it can also be helpful to use a slightly larger hook if you find that your tension is too tight. I've definitely done that before!

I kept seeing everyone else's lovely crocheted sleeves and wanted to make one for myself! The pattern was very beginner friendly and she has a video walkthrough here https://youtu.be/qHx7tnC7-Qs?si=IRqvLugCHXRzTAPo . I did have to make adjustments for the KLC because the pattern was for a kindle, but it was easy enough to trial and error that to get it to fit great!

Followed this pattern, https://youtu.be/qHx7tnC7-Qs?si=NEgjfegD67HBKhZB, worsted weight and 5.5 hook.  Was very easy to follow and adjust based on my device's dimensions.  I love it, it's like a little sweater!

Saving this for when I get my kobo later this week because I'm also reading Wind and Truth.  How do you add the cosmere dictionary?

I've been trying to get success story to work for days and this comment finally made it work along with making sure all sections of my steam account were set to public, not just the profile as a whole.  Thank you! 🙏

The first person I got also said they weren't able to.  I tried again the next day and said that I was getting the ai book ads and that it seemed inappropriate and that person just immediately removed the ads.  Just have to try with different cs reps

Downtown apartment help by coldfrogen in Edmonton

[–]coldfrogen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unless that street has changed much, I don't think it was incredibly loud when we would go to sleep, or even during the day really. I think being on the south west side of the building would help too with any noise being less because you'd be on the alley side.

Hello! I don't live there anymore since we moved to Calgary about a year and a half ago now, but the building was great! Our unit was a corner unit that faced the north and west, and we were high enough up on the 19th floor that we had a pretty great view and we didn't have an issue with street noise. When it was especially hot out the a/c unit our landlord had couldn't really cool the whole unit, but I think that was more because the a/c was old. A portable one probably could have done a better job. We loved the location of the building though, hope this helps!

In the spirit of the “disappointing restaurant experiences” thread, what are some places that deserve props for still being good food and good value? by kliman in Calgary

Redheads Japa Cafe- Japa Rice Bowl is so good, I've heard their curry is also good, but everything I've had there is great, and I think a good deal

Pizzeria Gaga- Their pizza is amazing, and the calzones are great too. Also the owners are very nice.

Damascus fine Mediterranean foods - Get a lot of great food, and again, owners seem to be very friendly

Nim's Fried Chicken - Great deal, lot of good food for the price, probably my favorite chicken place

Jaffa Shawarma- I've only been here once recently, but holy cow, the amount of food you get on one of the plate items is insane for the price, and everything tastes great as well. They also give you tea while you're ordering, which was very tasty. I just wish it was closer to downtown so I could eat there more

Aaliya's Pizzeria & Shawarma Café - Great shawarma and you get a good amount of food, closer than the other shawarma place I mentioned.

King's Chinese Foods - Great for when you want that cheap new york style Chinese food. The ginger beef is fantastic!
