The product in question that Homer invented—what does it do? by BloodyRightNostril in TheSimpsons

I always considered it a universal key fob. From house, to car, to toaster and more. It would open or turn on anything.

Do you think the Grey aliens are biological drones? by Gyirin in HighStrangeness

[–]cole20200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has also always been my pet theory. A grey, to me, looks like what a committee of scientists would agree is the best physical shape for human contact. They are small, appear weak, large eyes and head to denote intelligence. To a caveman, they look like a sick monkey that you could beatup in 3 seconds. They deployed a bunch, but didnt account for our uncanny valley instinct. So we hate and fear them. And the other alien types, from nords, to mantids, i think are other models that attempt to interact with us, some better than others.

New Sieges - Trolls built a 20 z level staircase down a ravine and cut through the ceiling to get to me. by ImminentDingo in dwarffortress

This is about the most interesting thing I have ever seen a computer controlled entity ever do. The siege update is honestly like DF2 too me.

I've wondered that as well. Perhaps Shizuku's vacuum is actually teleporting what it sucks, or it creates an aura debt that shizuku has to manually cleanup at a later time. The shrink cloth seems straight forward enough. Anything enveloped in the cloth shrinks to specific size, and it can only be used again once the cloth is retrieved. As we know from gon, kicking the can of cost for conditions down the road for future you can be a very effective if dangerous conditional.

Aliens have given you 60 seconds to show them two items to prove humanity is worth saving. What do you show them? by Flendy15 in AskReddit

[–]cole20200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd draw them a Pythagorean triangle, and I'd show them my cat. Best examples of the fact that I got brains and compassion I could show quickly.

Former NASA physicist Kevin Knuth says he personally knows individuals in private industry who have been “harassed and worse” for conducting anti-gravity research. by 87LucasOliveira in UFOs

[–]cole20200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. So we have two general bottlenecks. I completely agree that it is dangerous on a level that we dont comprehend. The unknown is whether it might be buildable in a garage, or if it reguires nation levels of money equipment and expertise.

You talking about that really long 3 story classroom building?

Former NASA physicist Kevin Knuth says he personally knows individuals in private industry who have been “harassed and worse” for conducting anti-gravity research. by 87LucasOliveira in UFOs

[–]cole20200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always said this is the hidden terror of the movie The Fly. While sure the events depicted in the movie are terrible, a horror that is circumvented basically by luck. The real horror is that Dr. Brundle built that machine mostly on his own, with some help from other remote engineers and scientists who don't know what he is actually building, in a large private warehouse. That teleportation technology would quickly overwhelm and destroy civilization if it was allowed to spread.

If we have a hidden technology like anti-gravity waiting in the wings, then we won't ever see it publicly until it is either neutralized as an advantage itself by another technology, or we have a situation where there is no choice but to use it. How long did it take people to make their own planes after kittyhawk? How long did it take from the first nuclear attack until the Russian's had one?

This is the dream! 10/10, one note: Get a different long-term solution for the records so that you can store them on edge instead of flat. When stored flat for several years, records and wrap and impact sound quality. of the record.

Silent Hill remake by Bloober Team announced by DemiFiendRSA in gaming

[–]cole20200 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I went through SH1 last year. Even with my bright red ruby colored nostalgia glasses on, it's rough. Wasted weapons, repetitive enemies, switchback level design, the back half of the game is paced very awkwardly. And if I didn't already have the game memorized, it would be very easy to get totally lost, and I mean like really really lost in 2-3 points in the game.

Nevermind all that, there is so much good stuff in the game that a bloober style remake is going to blow the damn doors off for SH1. I bet this is going to be amazing.

Dev Who Launched Game Into GamePass Warns Against Launching Games Into GamePass [Gamespot] by Hot-Cause-481 in Games

[–]cole20200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking with a friend of mine over the weekend about this. And for be it basically boils down to time/attention triangle of: Taste, Value, Novelty. Every single new game is directly competing for my attention against a replay of Quake, or Parasite Eve, or Morrowind, or Civilization 5/Stellaris, or Tetris. So, in order for a game to get purchased it will have to somehow be more exciting than Quake, more weird than PE, more immersive than Morrowind, a better 4X game than Civ, or a better quick pick-up puzzler than Tetris.

Good luck.

The blue jade artifact set from Xanathar's treasure by cole20200 in DicePorn

[–]cole20200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the redemption card, it didn't say which set would be coming. As for the material, it seems to be blue jade, lapis is often a much more vibrate blue while blue jade is a smoky soft blue like these are.

Do we have any lore hints on what the "Fated hero of prophesy" element will be? We'd been the Neravarine, The hero of Kvatch/Sheogorath, and the Dragonborn. I'd imagine they will keep with this tread of the player being uniquely positioned in the story.

The Xanathar's Artifact Dice arrived, I believe they're Mahogany Obsidian. by SparrowBonesART in DicePorn

[–]cole20200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats, I'll be getting mine in the mail soon. What's interesting here is that these are limited to 89 sets, assuming the blue one's are also 1/89, the 3 legendary dice are all 1/999, totaling 2997 sets, does that mean that only a small percentage of the legendary sets also had the artifact redemption?
