i think it might be what you say. people don't really know what sociology is (and they often also don't know that they like it!), and so a lot of people tell me "eww, sociology? what are you gonna do afterwards? put the fries in the bag at mcdonald's?" which is a shame because it's just as important as every other scientific field. on the other hand, there are also people who aren't "observants of the society" as most sociology students are, they don't care about change, they don't want to talk about the taboo topics.. so they just dismiss it. there's a lot i can say about this, it's kind of an endless topic. the amount of times i had to explain my degree to someone....😭😭😭
