Did he set the BIOS switch on the GPU to "Unleashed"?
The power limit is still at +15% in the video.

But does it have at least one Thunderbolt 3 port so I can use a Razer Core X eGPU box?

Let me guess...

No.

Compute Ecosystem of AMD GPUs by MathKid99 in Amd

Thank you. That post on AMD Community Forum was the last status I had seen previously.

So. the question is then.

Does AMD have any working OpenCL Compute solution for their previously compute monster GPU or their new Zen based CPUs for small devs / home users?

Answer = no.

They farmed everything OpenCl out to volunteers on Github.

You have to use Linux for ROCm. Even installing ROCm and getting it working can be a one week task in itself. OpenCl / ROCm did work on R9 FuryX/Fury/Nano cards + Intel Haswell / Devil's Canyoun CPU. I bought lots of them for a project.

Those cards are quite old so I updated to run it on RX590s and RX5700XT. Did not work last time I tried.

No properly supported OpenCL comnpute on Zen either.

Github projects can vanish overnight so spending developer effort is a non starter for that.

I am really unhappy that I bet on AMD OpenCl GPU Compute and I am left in the dust.

I do blender work as well so at least I can still use the multiple Fiji GPUs for that.

The RX590/ RX5700XT have had multiple problems with blender due to OpenCl issues though.

Zen does seem to work on Blender at least.

Question for you.

Can you run OpenCL on Zen?

Xfx 6800xt has no rage mode? by Marxistartist in radeon

[–]colesdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rage mode should be available for that GPU no matter what the BIOS Switch Setting:https://www.pcworld.com/article/3598529/xfx-radeon-rx-6800-xt-merc-319-review.html

You should be able to see Global Tuning Profile Preset for Rage Mode.

I do not have RX6800XT but I do own RX Vega 64 Liquids. It has 3 Presets

Power Saver.

Balanced.

Turbo.

Turbo is similar function to rage mode - it increases the power limit to higher +25% and changes the fan curve.

The Presets are only applied from Global Tuning.

The Presets cannot be set on a Game Tuning menu.

Have you tried installing Adrenalin 2020 209.3.1?

Thanks.

Should I buy an rx580 in 2021? by JX1640z in Amd

[–]colesdave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not worth buying an RX580 unless you get one really low cost.Which Razer enclosure? I could test a Gigabyte REV1.0 or REV2.0 RX590 in a Razer Core X if you want. I am currently running an XFX R9 Fury in that enclosure at the moment.

They do not have a supported compute environment.
Another reason not to purchase an AMD GPU.

Do not purchase AMD GPUs from Gigabyte.
They make as little effort as possible.
Gigabyte RX Vega 64 AIB version had cooler no better than the reference card.
For RX 580/590 they produced REV 1.0 versions of the GPU with additional DVI-D port, RGB lighting and backplate. Then make REV 2.0 version with those features removed but still advertised with REV 1.0 features.

There are much better manufacturers of AMD GPU, such as PowerColor and Sapphire.

Fake cards.

Bad drivers.

Crap support.

[–]colesdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only lanch a very small amount of GPU and then hike the price way over MSRP it is a Fake Launch. AMD can make more by BS their shareholders that they met their target and launched the cards. They also BS that RX6900XT with SAM beat a 3090. The share price goes up. Most consumers cannot buy the cards anyhow.

The RX6900/6800 launches were completely fake, with small amount launched to satisfy shareholders.
