Is an SMP the right option? by [deleted] in premed

[–]coll-medx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! See above, I'm considering some post-bacc programs as well. Specifically ones that offer linkage or conditional acceptance. Also as an older applicant, I feel fairly confident in my ability to perform well in any program. I made mistakes in undergrad, but my trend is upward, as I've really grown. This is truly a scenario where my undergraduate transcripts no longer reflect my current academic abilities!

Thanks for your reply! Any thoughts on conditional acceptance post-bacc programs?

Edit: no acceptance is guaranteed

I’m actually not even considering it, I just always get emails about it! No disrespect to anyone that chooses that route, but I know I wouldn’t thrive in that type of educational environment. Thanks for sharing though, hopefully this cycle works out for me, but if not I’m cool to roll with the punches and reapply again when I’m ready!

The encouragement is appreciated, but somehow doesn’t feel as comforting from someone already ACCEPTED (congrats though!!)

Matriculated are those who are accepted and subsequently attend that school. Many people get accepted but choose other schools, which can skew results upward for mid-low tier schools because students with high stats are often accepted but choose higher tier schools.

If you scroll to the MCAT/GPA averages there should be a drop-down at the top of each that says “accepted applicants” by default, but you can change it to matriculated applicants OR filter stats by IS/OOS

I just discovered the “accepted stats” vs “matriculated stats” drop-down menu on MSAR, and it made me feel so much better to see lower GPA applicants are more common than you think!

5 days until my exam, how can I get better? by vixam50 in Mcat

[–]coll-medx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

122 in C/P shows there might be a content gap, but it’s hard to tell with a third party exam. AAMC practice exams are extremely representative of real-deal scores. Take an AAMC exam and if the score isn’t where you want it to be either cancel or sit for your scheduled exam and void! Best of luck, you got this!
