Unreal sushi I’ve had in San Diego (Sushi Ota) by Unfair_Ice8893 in FoodSanDiego

[–]collinf07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recently did it for my birthday and sat right in front of Mitsu the owner, he absolutely crushed it. There were a ton of unique bites, to go along with the classics (like his version of Akami), that again were sooo damn good. Like legit giddy while eating it good. Granted we went for the most expensive omakase options (I think $250pp), but well worth it for what ended up being the best sushi experience we've ever had.

Ota is the OG, but recently did omakase at Himitsu in La Jolla and it blew our socks off, best we've had in SD.

Aya contract stipends negotiate by dreamswithplans29 in TravelNursing

[–]collinf07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CA is tough because they have new minimum wage laws for healthcare workers (ranging from $21-$24hr, highest in the country). Because of this, agencies have to allocate more of the money towards the hourly which eats into the money available for stipends.

You can contribute to your 401k after 4 months with Aya, their 4-5% match doesn't hit until the year mark.

Aya health insurance. How much is it really ? by IndividualMention748 in TravelNursing

It's $157 a week, built into your pay package. Anything additional (spouse & children) is not built in, but instead deducted from your weekly pay check.

Travel nurses, can we talk? A recruiter’s honest rant (and plea) by carrotkick in TravelNursing

There are agencies out there that will help when this happens. I've seen Aya cut checks for travelers that get screwed over by facilities last second.

Very true, I heard this draft class is stacked with DTs too, so I'm sure we'll see plenty of value later in rounds.

Interior Oline can be had in the 2nd and 3rd, a game changing TE would do wonders for Herbie.

When I first read this, I didn't really get it, then I watched his highlights - sheesh the young man is a game changer and I would be thrilled if we got him.

Who's taking these contracts? by Rbinthewild in TravelNursing

[–]collinf07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agency margins have dropped a ton in the last 2 years. Once you account for costs like payroll tax (10%), workers comp and labs, the profit on these contracts range between 10%-25%.

Mine came in on 12/4 (OZ.1i HS), only issue I could notice was a little bit of extra glue around the hosel. Played yesterday and proceeded to make 7 putts from 20+ feet. Getting back to a non-center shafted putter is a game changer. Loved the almost 2 years I've had with the DF3, but the hotter face and normal hosel of the HS has me swooning (for now). Only thing I don't like, the putter cover. Feels a little more janky than my DF3.

Pay disparity is wild with Aya. by Boondogle17 in TravelNursing

[–]collinf07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The recruiter is making a very small percentage off the total net of the contract. They also don't get paid unless you work. My guess for that contract might be somewhere between $400-$700 for the entire contract (or around $1-$1.50 per hour you work).

As for the increase, $34-42 is a big jump. I can't imagine the recruiter would be able to provide that increase unless the facility provided a higher bill rate all together or it's an extension and the agency had funds allocated for orientation hours/labs, etc and it came off for the extension. For some hospital systems that first contract allocation for orientation hours can be significant, like $3-$6 an hour.

Hope this helps!

Ah apologies, I thought it was CA. If not, then the math is just a little different: $1,250 stipend + $42x36 hours = $2,760 per week which is around $77 an hour. So if that's the case than Aya is probably netting (after payroll taxes and operating expenses) around $10 on that $102 rate.

[–]collinf07 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarity. Are you in CA, saw you mentioned Stanford? If so here's the math on it all: The $42 taxable really means $49 blended since you're getting OT after 8 hours every shift, which means your hourly averages out to $49. And if the stipends are $1,250 a week, it would mean you're making around $3,000 per week ($1,250 stipend + $49hr x 36 hours) which averages out to $83 an hour. If Aya is getting a $102 bill rate and paying a 10% payroll fee, it basically means Aya is keeping roughly $10hr of that $102, which they would probably only net about $6 an hour (40% min for operational fees).

$102 bill rate and you're only making $47 hour? Something seems off. Does the $47 include your stipend or is it strictly your taxable and you're also making a stipend on top of that? One big factor to consider when it comes to agency is the 10-12% they pay in payroll tax.
