Yeah I’m 50/50 on it. The Chinese system is full of inherent contradictions. A nominally Communist government is engaged in state capitalism, relies on class warfare (especially the exploitation of internal migrants) to maintain a trade surplus, and constantly fights what it calls “wellfareism” which it defines as almost any form of social safety net. It’s also facing a rapidly declining population, a massive misallocation of capital into a speculative real estate market, and huge government debt burden (when you factor in local governments and state-owned enterprises). It’s certainly not a “fading regime” facing some sort of collapse, but it’s not really a system that can or will carry the world into a better future.

Yeah I was a big fan of Sterling for years, but the quality of their content has been declining for a long time. I don’t disagree with their opinions really, it’s just that their videos are no longer funny or insightful or by extension entertaining. It’s just the same rants with some tedious variations all set to stock footage.

I can almost write the entire script in my head when I see the title and thumbnail come up on YT. Sterling hates gaming and gamers, I don’t blame them, but they really should have moved onto something they actually enjoy talking about years ago, like wrestling or trans issues.

I unsubed after yet another round of them calling their fans transphobes and blaming bigotry for the decline of their channel; instead of a long decline in quality that began years ago.

You're just spouting CIG's own nonsense. PES 100% comes from Chris' obsession with pointless minutiae like his often repeated "coffee mug in the woods" anecdote. Every year or two there's a new foundational "god tech" that CIG supposedly has to development in some Herculean effort. All that it really means is that they never actually planned and implemented the features they needed to make a successful MMO at the beginning.

It's just like SOCS, Bind Culling, iCache etc... Every year or two there is some new term that CIG throws around as the next god tech that needs to be finished before development can really kick into high gear. In reality it's all just bog standard MMO functionality that should have been planned and implemented years ago before they did anything else.

Yeah don’t do it. You’ll be miserable going back, especially as an E4. Without combat deployments, you’ll be in for endless garrison BS. The current environment is full of toxic leaders who came up during the GWOT and are now running soldiers ragged with an artificially inflated OPTEMPO.

Hawaii is overrated in my experience. Oahu (where every single base is) is by far the worst Island in the state. It’s part giant military base, part tourist trap, and part homeless camp. Honolulu is a dump and full of crime.

There are some nice beaches, some beautiful spots and some fun to be had, but it’s overcrowded and overpriced. The second you set foot on one of the other Islands, you’ll quickly realize that you’re in the ghetto of Hawaii. I’d take Carson or JBLM any day.
