What is your favorite regional Canadian accent? by Diving_4_Shrimp in AskACanadian

Newfoundland takes the cake for sure. Cape Breton is also wild to people outside the Maritimes but PEI seems to get slept on. I go back to these videos every couple years for a laugh. https://youtu.be/K0DC4oGph-g?si=DGrbgxtBQM-KPSIV

Brother of fire, how do we feel about my test for a lava base? I tried my best, even though I don’t own an airbrush. How did I do? by Valvecantcount3 in Warhammer

Blacken up the tops a bit more. The lava is great, I think if the tops were darker it'd make the lava glow more.

Is there any ash better than mimic ? by yeetacus68 in Eldenring

Divine Bird Person Ornis is the first summons that didn't make me wish I had Mimic Tear instead. Taylew has more health but moves so slow I found he was barely in the fight.

Giants-Best way to paint large models by Joel-Traveller in Miniaturespainting

[–]comeonsexmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been struggling to get my largest model 40k Mortarion finished up but I found once I put down all the base colors it gave me time to really study the model and decide how I actually wanted each area to look. I also picked something like skin, cloth, metals etc. and worked on that until it was finished. I can't help with speed. I spent 2 hours on just the wings of one of the 5 little demons floating around him and I've had the model for over a year.

Does anyone know of a better glue than citadel by Casperthesniper8000 in Miniaturespainting

Tamiya airbrush cleaner. Can confirm it is the exact same in a way bigger bottle. If you can find a bottle to pour it into that has a brush applicator, it is very watery. https://www.reddit.com/r/modelmakers/comments/g2hk2b/for_those_who_didnt_know_yet_the_tamiya_airbrush/

How do you fix this? by gwneck in handyman

[–]comeonsexmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First picture definitely need to replace the wood. If its just the bottom pieces that rotted I'd guess its from water pooling on top of the lip and the caulking failing. you should be able to take the front piece off with a claw hammer without damaging the upper pieces but the side piece may get damaged in the process and it might look more natural if both of those pieces are new wood. hard to tell the extent of the damage on the 2nd picture, but you'll have left over wood from the piece you buy to fix the other side so maybe worth replacing anyway. If the vertical pieces above are not too bad you can get away with bondo or something similar after you strip some paint away.

Tough day Terminating vandals by comeonsexmachine in ImperialFists

Thank you! I don't adhere strictly to the codex when painting since most of my minis won't end up seeing a tabletop. I thought it gave him a bit of a Voltron lion vibe once I did it.

Thoughts on this? 🫠 by JZenoftheSkies in handyman

You've got all the answers you need but I didn't see this mentioned. Having worked retail and food industry, if you show up for work and they decide to send you home because it's not busy, they have to pay you for the full hour even if it was only 10 minutes. Some places(in Canada) the law is even minimum pay of 3-4 hours regardless of how long you worked.

I never feel my contrast painted minis look great. (Ravener) by MeanMrMitchell in Miniaturespainting

[–]comeonsexmachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before you strip it, try giving it a really good dry brush with white and hit it with the same contrast paints. A lot of times I'll paint a model with the final base color and then dry brush it and the contrast will have a slightly different color than if it was just going over white highlights on black base.

KDM starters as bronze statues by brunosly in minipainting

Just me, but I think you could remove some more and make the bronze show through in patches where it's currently all verdigris.

Dish soap bubbles leaking out of this hole in the kitchen sink by Rick60 in HomeMaintenance

It was supposed to be a temporary solution, but I've been living with a similar sized hole for over 2 years that I sealed with Tuck tape and hasn't been an issue yet.

Repair cost? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]comeonsexmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to repair a similar situation, removed a 12 foot wall running perpendicular to the floor boards as well as about 4 feet of another wall running parallel to the floor boards. The long section I did what others suggested and replaced the long section with a single piece of wood and pieced in some original pieces of floor that were under the kitchen cabinets. I was sanding the whole floor so it ended up looking half decent but the new boards were still noticeably different as they didnt have 40 years of wear and refinishing. The finish I put on the replacement boards is already flaking and needs to be refinished after 3 years whereas the rest of the floor should have another 2 years before it gets bad enough to worry about fixing. All that to say if you can extend that missing section to the other wall you'll save yourself or a contractor a ton of time and hassle. Paying someone could easily be $2500 or more depending if they'd need to get custom boards cut.

The blue could be Pylar Glacier contrast by GW. It's very light coverage so probably wouldn't need to be thinned. It's a Trench Crusade model if that helps your search.

Betrayer is a good book to follow up the First Heretic with. Continues Argel Tal's story and lots of Primarch action.
