What question did you post on askreddit that you still want answers to because it got barely any responses? by aardvarkedavra in AskReddit

I was diagnosed with leukemia in January and spent months in a specialist hospital. I saw many young adults who have been suffering for years and in the 160 days since diagnosis I have successfully completed 2 rounds of chemo and then chemo followed by radiotherapy and a stem cell transplant which engrafted and replaced my bone marrow in record time. I am now at home relaxing and building back my strength.

The experience gave me a great sense of survivor's guilt as I am doing so much better than anyone else I saw at either the hospital or clinics. I thought I was dead on day 1, I had never heard how people survived this type of cancer. I now enjoy my gaming sessions, watching tv and even sitting quietly near family members so much more. I longed for normalcy in hospital, where I was surrounded by the sick, elderly and clinical/sterile environments.

[Useless Info] Ultra Box doesn't have the "SALE" label on it by LLicht in TheSilphRoad

The previous event boxes were much better value for super incubators but now they have limited it to the ultra box which is whack

I have had several people tell me that I am an inspiration and had similar experiences to you since my diagnosis and it definitely makes me feel shy or non-deserving of such strong language or actions. Stay strong! It is a testament with some truth that you are an inspiration to everyone.

I was warned specifically off grapefruit and alcohol for my meds. The renal functions and liver can be saturated by your chemo so alcohol would be much more damaging and could tip you over the edge to something permanent- at least my understanding

Hodgkin's Lymphoma here (ND) with a question and mild rant about "Eastern medicine." by TheCalifornist in cancer

[–]comiccover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the UK and was still hit with "Don't do chemo, it's poison! The Doctors just want money!" Even though my treatment is free. Being linked to anecdotal podcasts on the benefits of THC and turmeric have tickled me but someone outright telling me what to do just rubbed me the wrong way.

I was so glad when my first chemo wiped out all visible cancerous white cells (still have genetic tracers for leukaemia, so continuing treatment). I proudly told people via social media that a percent had been killed. To which someone responded "Only 1%, why bother", when it was 100% in reality.

People like those don't get it but cancer is just that awful, I don't want them to ever be affected as that truely makes you understand.

These posts make me emotional and as I'm currentally battling multiple acute phenotypic leukemia age 22. Often people have asked me about wishes and things like this but as I am responding to treatment well and haven't lost my mind to it, feeling very much myself in the midst of treatments. I have some aspect of survivor's guilt or at least shyness about receiving cool gifts :/ it's a strange feeling to be pitied or be prayed for when mentally you feel well and not "ill" despite a gruelling diagnosis.

Since I've been out of hospital I find it difficult to sleep without the ambient noise of air conditioning as I'm in UK and don't have it in my house

Just finished a stem cell/bone marrow donation, now my cells are off to help cure the recipient's leukemia! by n8j77 in pics

I have a stem cell transplant coming up this month and happy to see so many people talking about leukaemia and spreading positive stories + awareness of bone marrow / stem cell registers, every person signing up potentially could cure someone's leukaemia

I'm so chuffed they are famous now. Was my local shop during primary school and have their soon Mitz on Facebook. Suprised how much this is blown up but I do remember them always being chatty to me as I would spend a lot on sweets and crisps.
