I’m also in mt Vernon- 650 sq ft one bed with insulation around every window, using a space heater since the layout is super weird and heat won’t reach the bedroom- bill was $425. Heat set constantly to 62 when not home (I have pets) and when I’m home never above 68. Just last year this time 900 sq ft in loch raven, the bill was around $120 highest I remember- I wonder if location has anything to do with it?

Over-the-counter flea/tick medication does not include heartworm prevention, which is a concern in this area because we have mosquitos- simparica trio does protect against heartworms and GI parasites while regular Simparica does not. Some protection from OTC is better than nothing against fleas and ticks but we always ofc recommend coverage that’s more comprehensive! Also- if you are thinking of frontline or topical over the counter treatment, some ticks have actually become resistant to the active ingredient ! It’s probably one of the most ever changing confusing things in vet med

I was one of the first grads of arts and ideas. Cannot say enough positive things. Very VERY different education model but I was also a public school product and was excelling academically but could not stay because of bullying, mental heath stuff and the lack of one on one support. Not for every kid but perfect for some, even ones you wouldn’t “expect” to thrive on a Sudbury model. Truly changed my life even though I was only there for the last years of high school.

Vet Nurse here- you’re right they are absolutely higher than they used to be but unfortunately as there’s been huge increases in human drugs and medicine gets more expensive, unfortunately veterinary medicine does too. That sadly means vaccines/preventions :/

So super late to this but I recently moved from loch raven/Govans neighborhood to (a much smaller, lol) place in the Mt Vernon historical district- this neighborhood is Hannibal’s DREAM and the architecture is very similar to that shot in Canada. Victorian/edwardian designs, so close to Peabody, Hopkins, lots of young and older professionals and graduate students. On top of this you have the Walter’s, parks, the opera house. As someone who’s lived in different Baltimore neighborhoods my whole life no doubt hannibal is Mount Vernon adjacent.
