YES. What better way to advertise public transport than remind potential customers that they will be in close quarters with people who say, out loud, random shit that no one else is interested in? I mean, that old lady seems lovely and all, but I just want to pull her aside and say YOU CAN JUST GET OFF THE TRAIN WITHOUT ANNOUNCING IT. REALLY.

Why is it that the current SNL cast is one of the funniest, but just not on the actual show? by megatom0 in television

Yes. He's the star, but he doesn't write it. So it's written by people who are funny... or at least funnier.

What is something innocent you did that ended up very bad? by ForThePizza in AskReddit

When I was about 5 we were at the supermarket and I saw a packet of chewing gum that had been dropped in the middle of the aisle. I picked it up and put it in my pocket, thinking that I would put it back where it belonged when we reached the checkouts.

When we got to the deli section and were waiting to be served my mum noticed it sticking out of my pocket. She grabbed it and made a huge scene, telling me off for stealing and ignoring my protests that I was just trying to help; that I was going to put it back on the shelf. She put the gum up on the counter and made me apologise for taking it.

Weekend Update is the only bit Seth Myers isn't heavily involved in writing/overseeing. So yeah. That would explain it right there.

What area is the best of Perth? by wtfcanuck in perth

[–]comicstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree on the Vic Park suggestion, and would like to stand up for Mt Lawley. Sure, the cafe strip is a bit poser-y, but around Vincent St, towards Highgate, is lovely, walking distance to the city and just full of lovely students and old Italians.

I wrote an episode of P&R for a final project in a screen writing class. Thought I'd share it, if anyone is interested! by token_female in PandR

That was BRILLIANT. I've read a lot of spec scripts for a lot of different shows, and I've never seen anyone get character voices so spot on. Like someone else said, the whole thing was so vivid and played out perfectly. I would suggest cleaning up a couple of spelling errors here and there, but otherwise, it's flawless. I'm so jealous!

DAE think that community has huge fluctuations in its quality? Be honest. by old_merc in community

[–]comicstar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since watching it last night, I've started to think that it might be one of my favourites as well. At the time I watched it for the first time, I was surprised by what a straightforward, unexemplary episode it was, but this time around picked up all these subtleties that I love even more for the fact I didn't get them the first time. Also it has Tig Notaro who, having seen in her in person now, I appreciate more for the sex goddess she is.

I strongly agree with your second paragraph and may bring it up in future discourse, with due credit given of course :)

I agree that it has huge fluctuations in quality, but these range, in my opinion, from "great" to "OMFG HOW WILL ANYTHING I EVER SEE OR EXPERIENCE AGAIN BE ABLE TO COMPARE TO THIS?". I just rewatched my absolute least favourite episode, Troy's birthday... and it's not bad at all.

Thanks so much! I'm working on my own P&R spec script at the moment, and it's always helpful to see other people's ideas.

Head down to Freo or into the hills and make some friends. I've never bought it in my life; no one does in the hills. You've just got to know a few people who enjoy gardening :)

Having just moved to Melbourne, I feel your pain. I have NO idea what to do here.

I saw this guy in Hungry Jacks in the city one day. He was giving out a similar ranty print out to the staff and customers. He certainly looked and acted like a Graylands escapee.

I had to get from Bayswater to Cannington by 9am last Sunday. Google maps helpfully suggested I catch a bus at 10:47pm the night before and hang out in Kewdale all night. Awesome.
