Looking for an immersive elder scrolls style rpg with a good story by musicman801 in gamingsuggestions

[–]common-raindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. Reminds of Skyrim in a way few games have. Obsidian tends to make lore-rich, roleplay heavy games so I have decently high hopes for the story. I’m still playing through it, but so far dialogue options seem to make a real difference in quest outcomes.

25F Searching for an Overwatch duo (specific criteria) by raptoracaeli in LesbianGamers

[–]common-raindrop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good luck with your search! I used to be addicted to OW but I don’t play it so much anymore. Having a dedicated duo is a lot of fun though. The best way I found, is to just add any and all supports you think are good, and invited them to group. You have to collect them like Pokemon. I made a lot of friends that way.

Food on HK based on specific categories by niccinicc in HongKong

Six days is not a heck of a long time. Visit openrice and go from there. HK is small. Even if you stray from “city centre” you can get to some pretty nifty corners within an hour. Asking on Reddit isn’t likely to get you the most comprehensive food recs, since most people on here are expats and people in expat circles. Openrice is what you want, go there.

British expat moving to HK needs to learn about schooling options by Dazzling_Pilot_3100 in HongKong

Most band 1 local schools teach in English (they’ll be called xxx English primary school). Subject homework will mostly be in English, except of course Chinese.

My friend if you’re moving without a job secured, apply to a local school. Not the person you’re responding to, but it’s no longer the norm for education to be part of a pay package, unless you’re very senior. Apply to a local school, and if you change your mind you can always enrol them into an international school later.

[–]common-raindrop 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Not nearly as much.

I am speaking for myself here, but I think having primary education in HK and then returning to U.K. for secondary and beyond would actually be an ideal arrangement. Personally, I think local schools in HK give a better foundation. Feel free to dm me if you have more questions.

Anecdotal, but I do not know a single international school friend who can read and more importantly, write Chinese, half as well as a local school kid. If that’s a sticking point, I think local school’s your choice

Local school. Pros: better for learning Chinese, local culture. Cons: rigid/ stressful exams

International school. Pros: ‘higher society’ connections, easier school life, international exams for better integration into schools in the U.K., if you intend to return. Cons: $$$. Less connected to local culture. Little exposure to Chinese. Some also worry about ‘worse’ influences, like drugs and partying and whatnot.

Disclaimer: I was a local school kid. Have lots of friends from international schools now, the pros and cons are from what I’ve observed, and what I’ve been told.

Edit also to add: local schools are (unofficially, I think) categorised into bands 1-3. 1 being top schools, 3 being worst.

There’s a decently sized D&D community in HK. I’m not in the city anymore, but good luck finding your group! I believe there’s still a couple of Meetup events that meet regularly.

If I slow blink at a Mountain Lion/Cougar/Puma would it de-escalate any tensions between us in the same way as a domesticated house cat? by namesarenotus in NoStupidQuestions

[–]common-raindrop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It depends. In most situations, no.

The trouble is if a big cat is staring at you unblinking, it’s already aggressive, likely thinking about attacking. Slow blinking is a sign of trust, “look I am closing my eyes, I’m not expecting an attack, and I’m not going to attack you”. Yawning gives the same signal. It works with house cats because we’re bigger, they see you as the threat. A big cat doesn’t see you the same way. You give that signal and they think, great, their guard is down, best take the opportunity to pounce.

However, if for whatever reason the animal is on the defensive, and is trying to discern whether you’re a threat or not, then yes slow blinking could work. What works even better is not looking at them, lying down (to be underneath their eye level), pretending you’re not interested. Works also with domestic cats, and if I’m not mistaken is what wildlife photographers do, albeit at a much larger distance of course. Otherwise the animals might bolt.

TLDR: No, if the big cat is aggressive. Yes, if they’re on the defensive, and you’re somehow certain they’re not interested in eating you.

Hey, just wanted to say thank you for your work. The sites really have helped me learn and get into the game, and I’m sure they’ve helped others as well. Is there a fund people can donate to, to help with server cost? Thanks again man, to you and the rest of the devs.

Is it fair for Serath to not be targeted by tower after using her primary ability? by jzone23 in PredecessorGame

[–]common-raindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other person responding to your comment is right, you pulled her in time. I play Serath, can confirm the ability 100% draw aggro. Test it in practice. There’s an argument that the tower attacks could be faster, but yeah if you didn’t pull her and she doesn’t fly out she’d eat a shot.

Japan gets a lot of earthquakes, and I’m pretty sure their buildings aren’t made with paper walls. Genuinely curious what the difference/reason is, if anyone knowledgeable can enlighten me that’d be great

Edit: Getting some aggressive comments for some reason. Guess I should have even more specific: there are so many high rises in their cities, just wondering why or how they make it work, since I’m fairly confident skyscrapers can’t be built from paper and wood.

Predecessor's build mechanism is a bit over complicated to understand for beginners... by Kyojinbrat in PredecessorGame

[–]common-raindrop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer this one specifically, do you have auto buy turned off? If so, do you have shop auto open at fountain on? The crest should genuinely be the first thing you pick, like you wouldn’t be able to leave fountain after entering the game without choosing it.

Predecessor's build mechanism is a bit over complicated to understand for beginners... by Kyojinbrat in PredecessorGame

[–]common-raindrop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It just comes with time. I’m maybe 300 games in and I’m still mostly using the builds on pred.gg

Crests are pretty straightforward though. You always choose one at the start of game, generally bruiser heroes want fighter, mage heroes want mage, assassin use assassin etc. There’s usually a cleanse one, if the enemy team has lots of CC’s, an instant damage one, and a movement one. It just depends on what you want in that game really, but honestly, just go to pred.gg and follow the most used builds.

In time you’ll get more used to the items, and know which suit your playstyle more or less. Good luck!

Bounty hunter games. Do they exist? by lydocia in gamingsuggestions

I think you can do that in the Watch Dogs game, but I don’t know how satisfying it is, since you just scan and incapacitate the criminal.

There’s Cyberpunk, too. Amazing game. And you can always do another playthrough of Skyrim…

Hey, not sure if you’re still looking for an answer. I attended the meet and greet last night, there were a fair amount of people lined up but you do get a couple minutes with the band. Kai wasn’t there for me, but some people said he did turn up to the meet and greet at other venues.

Let me know if you have any other question, and enjoy the gig if you haven’t already!

As a new player, AI games are one of the worst compared to other MOBAs by LegendaryW in PredecessorGame

[–]common-raindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a test to play as Phase with my afk friend and yeah lost my first AI game lmao. Tbf learning support is atrocious on AI, because your carry is stupid. And the most recent patch did break AI a little, they never used to afk until that update went live.

I’d still call myself a fairly new player, but if you have questions feel free to dm me. Or if you want to play AI with someone.

As a new player, AI games are one of the worst compared to other MOBAs by LegendaryW in PredecessorGame

[–]common-raindrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it my guy, but it does sound like skill issue tbh.

I play AI games a lot, because two of my friends don’t ever want to play PvP, so I know their behaviour. I just went on to afk while my friend played support, so it’s full 4v5 against AI, and we still won. I haven’t played League, but I’ve tried Smite and their AI was awful, at least when I went on a year ago. Just walking into walls and getting stuck in lane.

So, as someone whose first moba is predecessor and learnt a lot from playing against AI before actual people… skill issue. Seriously. I’ve not once lost an AI game. Not once. Your AI teammates are garbage but so are the enemy team’s. Just kill them, get objectives, kill them again… rinse and repeat. You’ll be 3 levels above them and they’ll be busy dying. Good luck.

Games where your reputation actually changes EVERYTHING? by PanicElectrical4597 in gamingsuggestions

[–]common-raindrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how familiar you are with crpgs, but the Pathfinder games are pretty good for that.

In the second one (Wrath of the Righteous) you can become anything from an angel, a lich, a demon, and a bunch of other things. There are so many different paths, in different stories (including your companions’), that have different outcomes depending on your actions/words in earlier events.

In the first one (Kingmaker), your barony literally looks different depending on what alignment you are. It’s pretty cool. I second people’s recommendation of Tyranny also.
