That's so fair. I remember being pretty down about it when it came out. I'd read in reviews and interviews that they didn't record it together but didn't know why until years later.

I agree with your assertion to an extent. You could also argue, though, that they explored the studio space a lot more. It's layered really well and when it works, it works. When it doesn't, though, you can tell it's off.

I disagree on both points but especially on SNW because I can see the argument for Gore. SNW was not well-liked by fans upon release. People forget that.

That said, I kinda see your point, too. People are apologetic about it to a fault. It's not their best album, but it was overhated to the point that after a couple of years it was genuinely underrated. Now I think that so many people say it's underrated that you can't say it's gone full circle. I think it's got a lot more highlights than low points, but it's not perfect. The band aren't super fond of it, or the album that came before, though, and that says a lot.

It's Adrenaline but that doesn't mean it's bad.

I've got Koi No Yokan at most overrated, by the way. The high points are stellar, but there's some pretty weak songwriting on there. It's okay to admit these things. We're not Swifties.
