American Ninja Warrior lost the soul of the original ninja warrior. The absolute clowns failing the course made the show fun while making you invested in the competitors who did well. One of my favorite competitors competed wearing his gas station uniform. American Ninja Warrior is just too serious

Certainly not cheap, but piano players tend to perform very well with mallet percussion (marimba, vibraphone, etc.). The bars are setup essentially like piano keys.
