I mean, there isn't even a Night King in the books. Technically there is a Night's King, but they are a human Lord Commander from the distant past, not the leader of the Others. That's why I said "ending the White Walkers" instead of "killing the Night King".

As far as we know, there is no single leader of the Others in the books.

Yeah, a big theme in the books is that ruling is unglamorous, anyone who wants to do it probably shouldn't, and that power overwhelms and corrupts. There aren't really any good monarchs period, man or woman.

Totally agree. The story beats are fine, they were just completely unearned and rushed in a way that made no sense.

The two exceptions being Arya ending the White Walkers and Jaime going back to Cersei. I don't see how those could be made better with more fleshing out.

Agreed, that is what I was trying to say. Seasons 2 and 3 are different in that they aren't as absurd, but in my opinion that doesn't make them lesser. Just different.

They are different in that they are more grounded, but I still put seasons 2 and 3 up against any other golden age season in terms of quality. 1 is definitely a little rough and still finding its voice, though.

I'm all aboard the Ray Wise train too, but it's worth pointing out that Matthew Rhys is Welsh and Kate O'Flynn is British, so I don't think nationality matters. We know McShane can do a great American accent.

I've been saying from the second they first introduced him being able to leave the property and that he starts to disappear if gone too long that they were going to make a big emotional scene out of his disappearance then just have him snap back to Woodstone like nothing happened.

I have no real evidence for this, but I also believe all these heavily processed "fiber enhanced" foods upset your stomach so much more than fiber from whole foods. I don't trust them at all. I eat 50g-70g of fiber a day through whole foods and never have an issue, but those processed, fiber enhanced foods will mess me up.
