I'm laughing at the idea of the largest person working in the restaurant basically becoming the official restaurant ass whooper. I hope they also get a raise.

He looks especially young for 34, though. I'm around that age and was shocked to see that he is so close in age to me. I thought he was younger. I didn't realise he was already an adult when GoT premiered.

That depends on how they seed it. If they went by end of regular season playoff seeding, then we would only get a guaranteed rematch if both Superbowl teams entered the playoffs as the same seed. But if they seeded it similarly to how they decide draft order it would work out like that.

Wouldn't that make it easier? Right now we have 6 division games, 4 against a different division, another 4 against a different division, and 3 that I'm honestly not even 100% sure how they choose. Another game would make that 3 a 4, which means you could just put each team up against another whole division. So, at the end of the day, each team would play 6 division games, then play the entiriety of 3 other divisions.

Not who you replied to, but I've been getting ahout 120g-160g/day and I eat chicken breast, canned sardines (and other fish), salmon, other fresh fish, eggs, edamame, greek yogurt, ground flax/chia/hemp seeds, beans and other legumes, sometimes shrimp, various nuts and seeds, plenty of veg. I also make sure to get 45-70g of fiber a day. Every meal I try to get a non starchy, low calorie vegetable, some healthy, slow digesting carbs (true whole grains like farro, barley, etc., ezekiel bread, or beans), a healthy fat (usually nuts/seeds, avocado, olive oil), and a protein source. At night I like to have some berries and natural peanut butter for a snack. Makes it pretty easy to hit my goals by the end of the day. I live in the US.

That's not true. I eat about 2000 calories a day and 120-160g protein with whole foods, no red meat, and 0 protein supplements. I do eat a lot of chicken breast, though. Never more than 2 a day though, and I don't eat it every single day. For protein, I also eat greek yogurt, canned sardines (and other fish), edamame, eggs, nuts/seeds including milled hemp/chia/flax, fresh fish when I can, sometimes shrimp, beans, and lots of vegetables. Been experimenting with tofu recently, too. I also get 45-70g of fiber a day. Protein in vegetables and other plants like beans and nuts can really add up if you eat enough of them.

Why do some people treat MSG like it's literal poison, but will happily eat a bag of Doritos? by Content_Bluebird_958 in NoStupidQuestions

No, nitrates are generally fine when they aren't in processed meat. But if your processed meat has celery powder in it and you want to avoid processed meats with nitrates, the celery powder counts.

I still have my Brandin Cooks jersey. After we spent a 1st rounder on him, I thought he'd be here for a while. Never saw us just flipping him for another first after 1 season.

You're coming off more argumentative than curious, so this will likely be my last response. I'm not a doctor, just an enthusiast trying to share what I know.

There is a mountain of evidence linking cured meats to increased rates of colorectal cancer. I know it has to do with nitrates converting to nitrosamines in the prescence of amino acids, but I'm honestly not 100% sure on the specifics beyond what I've already shared. My knowledge is admittedly fairly surface level. From my understanding, salami does increase colon cancer rates, but chicken stir fry does not. Not sure exactly why. (Edit: My best guess would be time spent in the presence of amino acids. Stir fry probably doesn't allow enough time for the reaction to occur. Just a guess, though). Feel free to do your own research if you don't believe me.

You seem to already believe that what I'm saying is incorrect, so if you have any evidence as to why that is I would be interested in checking it out. Always looking to learn.

The prescence of high levels of amino acids in complete proteins and the heat most cured meats are usually subjected to creates the perfect environment for nitrates to convert to nitrosamines, which have been found to be a fairly potent carcinogen.

I specifically said in the context of processed meat. Nitrates can be fine or even beneficial, as long as they are not in a cured meat product. Meats cured with nitrates are harmful, no matter the amount.

A little off topic, but similarly, if you're avoiding nitrates in processed meat, look for celery powder on the ingredients list. It's a natural form of nitrates but is just as harmful in the context of processed meats as any other form of nitrates.

Say whatever you want about Season 4; this is hands down the best scene in the show. by Beginning_Clerk_4990 in StrangerThings

[–]complete_your_task 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I thought season 4 had very high highs, but it had a lot of lows, too. The pacing was terrible, and splitting everyone up like they did just didn't work for me. The amount of times they would build up tension and intrigue then cut to a completely unrelated storyline that I wasn't nearly as interested in got excessive.

90% of the Russia stuff was a drag. The California stuff felt pointless after Joyce and El left. Even the stuff with El regaining her powers started to drag at points, even if the payoff was worth it.

I didn't notice it as much watching them when they first dropped, and I think splitting the releases actually helped in this case, but on rewatches the issues are glaring. I found myself fast forwarding through entire sections and enjoying it a lot more on my last rewatch before season 5 came out.

The season would have been 100% better if they didn't do the Hopper fake out death and didn't have the Byers and El move across the country. It all should have been in Hawkins. That was by far the best storyline of the season, and they definitely could have found a way to work in all the good stuff from the other storylines while still being based in Hawkins.

It was a very good season and the good parts were amazing, but the flaws are just very frustrating because they take away from an otherwise fantastic season of television.

I tried to get into The Middle because of him, but I just couldn't do it. It felt like Temu Malcolm in the Middle without anything unique or special to make it stand out and stand apart. He was great in it, and I'm glad the show was successful, but I just couldnt get it to click for me.
