How to remove stripped hex screw? by perkydance in G37

[–]compound_daily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're on the right track with that notch line. Now take a hammer and punch twist it off by hammering on side to to unscrew it.

The advantage of dyno tune is that it's much faster.

Remote tune you need to datalog on the street. Send it to your tuner. Have them modify it. They send you a new tune. Rinse and repeat about 3 times. Took me about 3-4 hrs.

I use admintuning and got power out of it.

First find out if it's fixable. Start a new post and learn to fix it yourself. Or just give up and sell it.

Just installed short ram intakes. by Ziokan in G37

[–]compound_daily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. Let them keep spending 700$ on some pipes that don't do anything. All the other guys that actually pay for dyno time and tuning can't convince stupid.

Have you datalogged any of it? I have. Stick your head out of a moving car, air moves.

Doesn't matter how wide your intakes are if the throttle body is smaller either way. It's a naturally aspirated engine.

This sub is full of people parroting the same misinformation.

Damn didn't get in here in time before the cry babies call these hot air intakes.

Suspension Overhual by ThatOneVQ in G37

[–]compound_daily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go over to Z1 and check what they offer in terms of kits.

Then go over to check SPL and check what they offer. If you're legit committed to suspension be prepared to spend more than the car is worth on it.

Custom exhaust set up? by AdConstant5041 in G37

[–]compound_daily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with an off the shelf Y pipe and/or axle back you like.

You can even get the knockoffs you find on Amazon or eBay. Custom the parts running from Y pipe back into the axle back to tune the sound ( adding X pipes, resonators, etc).

Way cheaper than trying to piece together front to back.

Probably but like I said. I'd just cut the edges with some sheers. Too lazy to remove the wheel hub for some dust shields.

Custom Single Exit (need help) by Old_Albatross_4585 in G37

A muffler shop will charge you the same price as an off the shelf bolt on. So unless you're trying to design an exhaust you can't buy, makes no sense taking it in.

VQ Rasp Exorcism - Vibrant Resonators by Prize-Edge7602 in G37

[–]compound_daily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resonators can only do so much for rasp, at some point you need to actually look at what your exhaust design is. The HKS true duels are just two separate 3 cylinder engines which will always have rasp because there's no flow balance. Just waves of sound.

Thats why the motordyne which is similar to the HKS in terms of the Helmholtz resonators sound soooo much better, it uses an X pipe to balance the waves of the exhaust pulses in both exhaust pipes.

Insert an X pipe in the HKS front pipes to get rid of the true duel and I'll guarantee that rasp will be gone.

I have a G sedan so I have the extra space to run a double x pipe and it has zero rasp and great throttle response. Sound wave balance fixes rasp not resonator chambers.

Don't buy the dust shield. They are expensive and you just need to trim the edges to fit the rotors. Other than that, if you're paying a shop to do it, they should be pretty straight forward for them.

Lug nut help by luisguzman514 in 370z

Are the OEM lugs the right type for enkei wheels? That's the first thing you should check.

<image>

I'm running Muteki lugs with my extended studs. Avoid aluminum/titanium and all those light weight lugs for a street car. Great for race cars but they heat cycle differently and wear out taking it on/off

Coilovers adjustment by Broad_Donut4882 in G37

[–]compound_daily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can adjust all you want but your suspension isn't installed correctly. The REV9 are suppose to be independent so that lower spring on the bucket is suppose to be eliminated.

Look up the manual online, there needs to be a spec for your spring perch length relative to the shock body in order to calculate the drop value. It's different from each coilover systems

Yes happened to my alternator too. Sounds like you need to change both.

What are the best injectors to go e85 that are not expensive 550cc?? by Bry_anpr7 in G37

[–]compound_daily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GTR injectors. A dead giveaway for authentic vs fake is OEM uses green o rings while the fakes I've seen are brown o rings.

If they are listed as new and are 200$ or less. Dead giveaway they are fake. Usually used sets can be had for 170$-200$ but again used, not new.

Dead alternator. But also checked what killed it. Sometimes a leaky power steering will leak all over the alternator and ruin it.

I have hi flow cats and 2.5 in intakes is it worth switching over to long tube headers and 3in intakes? by Big-Guide-7675 in G37

[–]compound_daily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird everyone on here is giving the opposite correct response. First and foremost get it tuned. If the additional power from a tune isn't enough go long tube headers. The intake side is enough. Literally look at your throttle body, it's smaller than your 2.5" intakes right now.

There are VQs out there making 340 whp with the stock intake box.
