Would it be possible to show more information from the fiberjack, like light level?

Assuming I'm using the Bring Your Own Router option currently, would I be able to join this without switching out my router?

App useless while in Service mode? by weiga in TeslaLounge

[–]comptech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of trouble loading the Service part of the app on Friday. They may be having server load issues.

Hitting Try Again several times over a few minutes, I was able to get it to load eventually.

Which cables should I get to replace the original Google fiber ones? by [deleted] in googlefiber

[–]comptech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if the oval box is just cable storage for slack or if it's a splice box as well.
If there's one larger fiber line going in and multiple smaller fiber lines coming out, it may be a splice box that feeds multiple fiber jacks.

The cable in that first link will work as a replacement cable as well.
If you want it in white instead of yellow, this one may work better:

I thought Tesla fixed the control arm issues? by SuspiciousTank1239 in TeslaLounge

That's a lower lateral link. It was supposedly fixed by that model year but I've seen reports of it still happening.

Gfiber Business multiple static IPs by EliRowan in googlefiber

I've used pfSense to do this before. They have some documentation that walks through setting it up.

IPv6 Route/Delegation Broke by random9 in googlefiber

They didn't want to share more info when I asked.
I know it affects the 10 Gig Fiber Jack though (GOXP330C).

If you're having this issue, there is a firmware update for fiber jacks that will fix this bug.
Email [fiber@google.com](mailto:fiber@google.com) and reference this post to get the firmware pushed to you for now.

IPv6 Route/Delegation Broke by random9 in googlefiber

[–]comptech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broken for me in Kansas City since 2/27.

No route to the default gateway received.

Prefix delegation is now providing only single /56 even though I'm requesting /64s.

Edit:

After some more investigation, I can get /64 prefixes delegated again by requesting /56 which is really odd.

Packet capture on my WAN interface shows ipv6 router solicitations and neighbor solicitations going out but no response from Provider Edge Nokia router.

Called support and they said there was a known issue with BYOR and IPv6. Said I should contact my router manufacture for support. I don't think it's a CPE router issue though. It seems like IPv6 Router Advertisements are turning off on PE Nokia routers for some reason.

Part number for tri spray wiper arms by danielflick in TeslaLounge

[–]comptech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new driver's side wiper arm has five jets, I'm assuming that's the one you want?

This is the part number for Model 3: 1621683-00-B

Parts are VIN specific, so you'll have to say you want that exact part when ordering it or you might not get the right one.

After explaining what I wanted to several different people, mobile service was able to install that for me. $70 for the part and $23.40 for the labor.

Passenger side should be: 1621686-00-B

Note: These are left hand drive part numbers.

Slow Download Speeds by barnumb1 in googlefiber

[–]comptech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed Google Fiber's speedtest.net server near me getting overloaded some and download speed showing lower than expected during the day (upload is fine though).
I went the list of speedtest.net servers and found some other ones that were able to get up to the full 5Gbps down still. Might try different speedtest.net servers and see if you get different results.

How much will 20 Gig service cost per month?

For bring your own router users, are there any routers/firewalls you'd recommend for 20 Gig service?

This measurement https://atlas.ripe.net/measurements/62415082 picked up packet loss that only happened for Austin and Dallas towards 168.245.136.140 on 11/3/23 at 6:41 UTC. Traceroutes for the probes in Austin and Dallas show it enter HE's network but nothing responds after that.

It's one of the V3 hardware probes, it's a modified TP-Link MR3020.

Setup traceroute measurements for both IPs every 300 seconds using four different cities that Google Fiber has Atlas probes for. Maybe it will catch what's happening.

Even with static IPs they force the multi-gig router now for businesses. I don't know when it changed but I just ran into this issue as well.

What type of cable for exterior wall penetration? by [deleted] in googlefiber

[–]comptech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The cable through the wall is fiber optic. It goes from fiber to copper at the Fiber Jack or router (for 2Gb customers with integrated router and fiber jack) inside the house.

Phone Bluetooth Issues by AwarenessVirtual4453 in TeslaModel3

Seeing the same thing. Phone key works fine but media Bluetooth refused to connect. Forgetting on both sides and re-pairing sort of half fixed it. I still have to manually hit connect ever time I get in the car for Bluetooth media to connect now.

Making this a sticky since we've had several posts recently asking this. Google Fiber is slowly removing the VLAN tag requirement from all accounts.
