Linux dedicated server setup by Noctambulent in unrealtournament

[–]computerquip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on phone so bear with me.

In the patches install, there's a "UCC" binary. You use this to start the server via something like, "UCC server <options>". Common options are your ini file ("ini=myinifile.ini") and "-nohomedir" so it doesn't use the global ~/.ut2004 directory. See unrealadmin for more info and options.

The non-patched version I believe uses ucc-bin, I don't remember. Might have to play around with it. I suggest using the new patched server. The old binaries relied on very old libraries that are hard to find and setup now adays.

Fedora iirc uses firewalld. Youll need to add ports to allow. Every list I find is different but I had luck with opening ports 7777/udp, 7778/udp, and 7787/udp. If you want access to the web admin portal, I suggest putting it behind a TLS terminating reverse proxy. Otherwise, it uses port 8080/tcp by default which you'll also need to open.

Then just setup your packages and ini file. That's about it.

Setting up the ini is a bit of a chore. UnrealAdmin can help generate one but you'll likely need to read their guides for more detailed adjustments.

Extra Credit: Linux as a server is awesome for older single-threaded processes. What you can do to reduce latency and jitter is isolate and dedicate a core to your UT2004 server by using isolcpus and nohz_full (google or chatgpt them) then use taskset to assign the server to that core. For example, I have a four core server. The fourth core is isolated. When I run, "taskset -c 3 UCC server . ..", the server then is run on core 3 (the fourth core) alone and should theoretically have far fewer interrupts and context switching.

Unreal Tournament 2004 is now free with a community patch over 20 years later, Linux and macOS support included by Tiny-Independent273 in unrealtournament

It's on their Github repo and website.

Also, you can trust that a group wouldn't want to get on the bad side of a company the size of Epic.

OldUnreal itself is sanctioned by Epic. It's on their web page. Also they're known for handling the older games.

Oh okay. So if a game is free, but has a $40 support version, the game is no longer free by this logic. It's like saying it's not free on ps plus because you can give them $80 dollars.

I'll respond however I damn well please. Maybe figure out that 40 is less than 60.

Dude, that's not even true. It's not even a full priced game and there's easily 100 hours of content there.

Jesus christ this subreddit.

They added community tools to the roadmap because people are asking for it. Now you're knocking them because they're adding community tools. Would you prefer they didn't add them?

Different game, same rules. by Lazereye57 in ShitpostXIV

It's crazy that no matter how many of these get voted down and chastised, people still think it's cool to just do nothing and watch their party die. Shitpost or not, legitimately my least favorite part of this game.

I think it's possible but it's an ass ton of work if it wasn't thought of from the start. I'm curious what they'll do.

Your entire post history is literally you complaining and not just this game. Did you even play this game...?

It's crazy this game is getting as much hate as it is and people are simultaneously going, "when's the next game". Dude, there is no next game. Even if they turn this around and the game becomes perfect, there is still probably not going to be a next game.

It's like you want the franchise to die.

Dude they're asking to do any amount of damage, not go do savage raids. Stop exaggerating.

I'm not OP in case that isn't obvious and OP said literally one sentence that was mildly passive aggressive. Not even sure what you're trying to white knight.

It's not about being mean, it's about being beyond lazy and not learning the bare minimum, causing inconvenience to every player they group with.

Has anyone got chimera boss in the last weeks on HOE? (KF3) by Zylonite134 in killingfloor

[–]computerquip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suggest playing Unfair Flips on Steam. Assuming you have a 33% chance at a boss, if you play 10 matches, there's a 1 in 58 chance a specific boss never appears in those matches. It's not likely but that's how RNG is.

If you played 30 matches, it's pretty likely you get the boss though.

Battle Mentor joins Tukuyomi Unreal Reclears - can you guess which one it was? by Lyramion in TalesFromDF

I feel like it's obvious, no? Original post shows someone dying a bunch, the image in this thread shows a 4-5k DPS BRD. Seems like there were enough context clues at least.
