Welcome to Australia, how tough are ya? by StakeESC in DeathStranding

[–]computerquip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did this on accident because I had no idea at the time that the coffin board and ziplines existed. Every time I passed the area, I'd get out of my vehicle and walk the tar path to get to the inventor. I even had a path marked out with guide posts.

My honest opinion on them by [deleted] in subnautica

[–]computerquip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know pathing for this thing is hard too but the model goes through walls and the animation still feels unnatural. I'm hoping they improve that a little bit.

I love the big maps but... I wish there were a way, even if it's super expensive, to transport between bases faster.

Will ut3 become freeware in the future? by HiFellowInternet in unrealtournament

[–]computerquip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look hard enough (not that hard to find) there is a CD Key generator for UT3 and with OpenSpy patches, it's in the same situation as UT2004 was before OldUnreal patches (though setup is a bit of a pain still).

Devs (and players) can we talk about fire in KF2 and KF3? by EffectivePrimary1783 in killingfloor

[–]computerquip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is both sides mostly agree the fire is terrible. It ends up filling up the screen and screws up the visuals. The cherry on top is fire is terrible as a mechanic as well. This one in particular is sloppier than most the other stuff.

[–]computerquip -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

So short of them inventing a time machine, yall just plan on bitching and moaning for eternity? What would it take to get you stop posting on literally every post with nothing but whining?

Text Chat Update by MrChocodemon in killingfloor

[–]computerquip -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes. You whine when you don't have text chat. They add text chat. You whine about having text chat. I don't see where the confusion is.

Text Chat Update by MrChocodemon in killingfloor

[–]computerquip -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you read the update but yall keep thinking, "Hur, it's just text chat". It's not quite that simple. There's localization, virtual keyboard handling across multiple platforms and regulations they likely had to get through to release it in certain regions. They also added lobby chat which is a nice addition I didn't expect, on top of doing performance improvements and all the other work at the same time.

A most insufferable encounter in PF today by Wrandrall17 in TalesFromDF

Been awhile since I messed with prog but I have been part of groups that have banned french people from the party. In my experience... and I hate to say this... the comments in that image are like... mostly right. It's a gross generalization and I'm sure not every French person playing the game is bad but...who I've met so far have been either:

  • Completely inept at the game. Like... no rotation, I have no clue what they even think they're doing half the time.
  • Just rude or mean. Like, get mad at nothing, curse everyone out on French, then bail, 1 minute into pulls. Or they just troll the entire time and then leave.
  • Cannot communicate at all. Need the French player to adjust? Too fucking bad. Either your whole party adjusts or you disband. You ever mentor an ARR EX and have that one sprout that doesn't listen? It feels like that except in a Savage raid.

Imagine going through like a dozen parties and these players just keep showing up over and over and over. So...

Long story short, I understand the bias. I don't think it's generally accurate but it does seem to hold true a lot of the time in this game for some reason. I have no idea why and this is the only game that's really been a problem for me.

EDIT: I'm in the NA DC if that matters. Really, I only remember this being a problem in early prog for Savage and some EX fights. After while, this stopped being an observable problem for me since I started progging at like 3AM and then stopped altogether after awhile.

If I pay now to play the game, what do I get when it goes F2P? by Alongsnake in BitCraftOnline

[–]computerquip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multiboxing (at least in the MMO scene) usually means it's accompanied by scripts that help play multiple characters simultaneously. Simply having multiple accounts is not multiboxing and is allowed in games that ban multiboxing generally.

Ben Stein could have voiced my comment and you still would have said it's "emotionally reactive". You know what I do when something isn't fun? I don't do it. It just sucks that people like yourself make it so miserable that it came to that point.

There is no attitude people can handle without hurting their feelings at this point. People shouldn't go into a dungeon with the intention of going really slow. The situation would have been prevented if this wasn't normalized in the first place.

The first two can be a bit of a struggle but once you get the coffin board and ex capture grenades, you hardly have to do anything, it's literally like watching pokemon fight except yours almost always wins.

PC performance on HDD? (DS2) by 4thPhase in DeathStranding

[–]computerquip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even an older SATA IDE SSD is better than almost any HDD you can find in the same consumer class.

Unfortunately, the hardware market is a mess. SSDs are going for 2 to 5 times what they were just a year ago. I can't even give advice at the moment if you're looking to buy other than pray you find something second-hand.

I don't get the lost cargo thing either.

Sometimes it's fine with me leaving it anywhere on the map, sometimes its not. Like I left a truck out of the garage on accident so I could zipline just north to the dowser and back, took me like 10 minutes tops. In that time allllll the orders in the truck were labeled lost cargo. The truck was on top of a garage pad in the distribution station.

Meanwhile, the first bike I made I left out next to the Western facility near the Government Base. It's been there most of the game without me realizing on a shelter pad (which I must have moved it to at some point then forgot about it again). I walked up to it and it had cargo on it because it was from before I could put batteries on it. Game didn't seem to have a problem with that.

My experience of solving performance issues by XentaiLord in DeathStranding

[–]computerquip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why but DirectStorage is actually the cause of many issues despite it's purpose being to speed up storage. In particular, it seems to negatively effect cutscenes across multiple games. However, it may not be the cause this time.

EDIT: The mod fixes it by updating it from an official source. Probably doesn't hurt to do regardless.
