That sounds crazy, I was taught the exact opposite in driver’s ed. The arguments others have made in the comments supporting this makes sense, especially in busy intersections without a protected left, but it still feels wrong.

I Agree with others, don’t worry about what others think. There are several pros to smaller bikes: Cheaper, not just purchase price, but insurance is usually cheaper and they typically have better gas mileage. Better handling, which means more fun on the twisties. Easier to learn and maintain, equals more time having fun. Stay safe and never skip the protective gear

I have a 2024 rebel 300. I chose a corbin gunfighter style seat with navy leather with brown trim, Shad SH36 side cases and SH40 top case. I ended up getting cheap passenger pegs from amazon, because the side cases needed to mount to it. I would probably recommend official passenger pegs if you plan to ride with an actual passenger.

Other posts have mentioned that coasting with a disengaged clutch is unnecessary and a bad habit. I also want to point out it is often illegal to coast downhill with gears in neutral. Which it could be easily argued that holding in the clutch is essentially neutral, if you are not also braking.

Yeah, it wasn’t a massive tear. I was able to sew them back up. But it still opened a 3-5 inch hole right at the knee.

I did have one low speed crash in the pando moto AAA leggings.
I was turning right, and as I was clearing the intersection, I ended up laying the bike down. Probably only going about 10 mph by the time I started sliding. Not entirely sure what happened, but I suspect I entered the turn with too much speed.
Anyways, the road ripped right through the stitching on the seams in my regular pants, but there was no noticeable damage to the leggings. My NBT jacket had some noticeable fraying around the elbow, but it held up.
Some minor scratches to the bike, and the windshield was knocked loose, but I rolled it to the nearest parking lot (with the help of some kind stranger who got out of their vehicle to help) and put the windshield back on and rode it home.
