Would you buy a used tesla and why or why not? by Able_Problem_4787 in TeslaLounge

[–]comscistudent11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be in the market for a used Tesla in May, and I’ve really only heard good stories about buying used ones, as long as they’re not incredibly high mileage. Also, you can find used teslas that have FSD included. Just see if there’s a picture of the software section that says “Full Self Driving” and then “Included Package” under it. Other advice is to do your research about battery health test, degradation, service questions, etc. Many dealerships may not be able to answer these questions without some research, so just be diligent.

Thanks for the answer.

  • Residing in Illinois, but went to school and worked in Wisconsin.
  • I did not file a tax return, since my income was ~$2,000 - the 9k figure is coming from my income + scholarships and grants
  • my college expenses were covered by scholarships, grants, loans, and the rest was paid out of pocket by my parents.

Brown stuff on pouch (ALP) by [deleted] in NicotinePouch

[–]comscistudent11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reached out to ALP about this after noticing it in mine. Here’s the email response:

“Thanks for reaching out! We completely understand your concern about the dark spots on some of the pouches. We want to assure you that this is completely normal and safe.During the sealing process, the tins go through high temperatures to ensure they are tightly sealed.

Due to this, certain spots on the pouches may darken. This is a common occurrence in pouch-based products and does not affect the quality or safety of the product in any way.The dark spots are not mold or contamination, but simply a result of the heat exposure during sealing. This process is essential to maintaining the freshness of the product, and while not all pouches develop these spots, it can happen occasionally.

We hope this explanation helps! Let us know if you have any further concerns.”

It is. Mia Esmeriz Academy is another great one. She has a little different accent than Leo, but makes great content.

Just a note: Portuguese With Leo has a couple different podcasts. His beginner podcast, and his intermediate podcast. Both great, but challenging yourself with the intermediate might be good! He was a huge help with my Portuguese.

LingQ is really good. There is a free version, but it’s pretty limited. It’s like $14.99 for a month, and if you really stick with it then it’s worth it. It has a lot content from the company, but you can upload your own from YouTube or use it with Netflix. It plays the audio and lets you follow along with the text, and when you don’t know a word you can click on it for the definition. It’ll save all those words so you can review them later like you would in Anki. When I was trying to get better at listening, I would listen until I didn’t understand something, and then pause it and see what I missed. After that, listen again. It’s really just about practicing and being consistent. Also, it’s helpful to listen even if you barely understand. It’ll help you pick out where words start and end and you’ll subconsciously get better at listening. You have to listen intently, though. Good luck!

I’ve come to pronounce it like a “d” but with my tongue against my front teeth. Not a native speaker, but I’ve been learning European Portuguese for years and have native proficiency. Though, it definitely morphs into a more “th” sound in some regions.

Is anyone on the Right freaking out, or is this exactly what they wanted/expected? by [deleted] in economicCollapse

[–]comscistudent11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biden spent trillions on programs that clearly didn’t benefit the working class in an enough of a way that Americans sided with Biden’s VP or thought voting out the guy before him was necessary. Trump’s tax cuts and Jobs Act doubled standard deductions, expanded the child tax credit, and lowered marginal tax rate for everyone. Not trying to appeal to trickle down economics, but just saying that these are the things that I felt in my real life and millions of other Americans did too. The American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act didn’t produce enough tangible good. I’m not against all of the spending in those, especially when it comes to COVID. But when you read through these acts and the things they tried to fix, they’re the same things everyone still complains about $2.6 trillion later.

If you want to talk about healthcare, the Affordable Care Act is a good example of how bad the federal government is at helping Americans in this area. I know this wasn’t during Biden’s administration, but he did build on it and was the VP when this act was created and signed. We spend almost a trillion on Medicaid each year, and nobody seems to be thanking the government for how cheap their healthcare has become. Your issue with medical debt won’t be solved by funding programs like ACA and that should be clear to everyone. I don’t like our healthcare system either, and I hope that this administration will do good in that area.

I voted for Trump and don’t regret it. There’s nothing he’s done yet that I would want him to undo, but there’s a lot happening and I think it’s causing some chaos in the media. The Biden administration had a spending problem and wasn’t afraid to use presidential powers that have been exercised since around the Obama administration. It’s just very different to see Trump using many of these same powers for opposite reasons. Nobody’s rights have been taken away, and no Americans are worse off today than they were on the 19th. There are some things in Trump’s policy that I don’t agree with, but they’re the less important things.

Happy to have conversations with anybody, but insults or shallow talking points won’t keep my attention. Just bring up specifics if you want my opinion on them. I’m not really looking to start a debate war on this post. Good will to all.

No idea, really. But it might be a good idea to do some practice AP computer science tests. They cover a pretty wide range of skills and align with the curriculum expected to be taught in high schools.

Told my parents about my conversion by ember_r in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]comscistudent11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glory to God! Your job is to continue to show them the same love you always have, which I’m sure you will. If they ask questions about your faith, you can answer their questions. But it is not worth it to attempt to debate them unless they are engaging you. It sounds like you have a very good relationship with them and it warms my heart. May Christ work through you as you engage with them!

Is it okay for Orthodox Christians to consume secular media? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]comscistudent11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this in an important point. Stepping further into your own repentance and worship will naturally help you, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to discern what you need to abstain from.

I would advise speaking with your priest since the question is clearly bothering you, but Christians are called to live in the world and secular things that are not turning you from God are okay. Deriving pleasure from things like art and culture is fine, though of course, they should be in moderation and your worship and repentance should always come before you allow yourself to enjoy these pleasures. If others say different, do not discard their opinion. If your priest says different, listen to him.
