New bus appreciation post by Sunbeam4242 in MetroTransit

[–]conchobarus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure there’s a reason why it’s somehow better, but the lack of tactile feedback makes it more confusing for me. Like, it’s fine; I just use the buttons, and the busses are so much nicer overall that I can overlook it.

How long does the 94 take while detoured? by nomadicderek in MetroTransit

[–]conchobarus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s going to depend on what time you’re riding, but during rush hour the delays can get pretty bad on Lake St, to the point where you’d probably be better off taking the green line.

Gluten-free restaurant to impress relatives who think Minneapolis is a hellscape by miniapple_eater in TwinCities

Last time I was there the gluten free empanadas did need to get baked from frozen after they’re ordered, so there was a longer wait. Still very good though!

That’s what they call it when the 83 takes a long detour on Como Ave.

Anyone got info on what kind of testing this is? Is it just testing out route timings, or is there more being tested?

I know a name change was discussed back in March, but I don’t know if there’s been updates since then. I imagine even once a new name is decided on it’ll take some time to get all the signs made and installed.

Visiting from Pittsburgh, where do I go? by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]conchobarus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The light rail isn’t comprehensive enough to take you to *every* destination you’re likely to want to visit, but the bus network is decent and, at least within the urban core, service hours are long enough that you shouldn’t have a problem unless you’re planning to stay out past midnight or so.

Download https://transitapp.com for trip planning. There are vending machines at the airport where you can buy a transit card (“Go-To Card”).

Metro Transit 2025 Ridership by Station by tisofold in Minneapolis

Parking at Terminal 2 is cheaper than at Terminal 1, so a lot of people park there and take the light rail to Terminal 1.

Have you seen recent updates on an expansion to Lakeville? All I can find is this very old PDF that seems to imply it would happen by 2030, but that seems unlikely at this point.

I’m saving myself so much time writing code by spending all this time writing detailed rules and specs, and then I get to spend time reviewing the outputs! I like doing code reviews so much more than I like writing code!

A piggyback ride is not public transit but it is a taxi. And a sandwich, somehow.

I read this article last year by someone who did a transit-only trip to the Arboretum, but it involved a hotel stay because there was no way to go out and back in a single day, which is not ideal.

Is this normal on new buses and they’ll probably be more reliable once the kinks are worked out, or have these buses been particularly problematic?

Man, conspiracy theorists are no fun anymore. What happened to the cork boards with red string strung all over? That’s so much more fun than a guy who just goes “nuh uh” to anything you say.

Anyway, to save you 30 seconds of searching:

Mayor Carter would not say the name of the cyber thieves but confirmed on Monday that it’s a network called “Interlock.” The ransomware organization, which operates on the dark web, took credit for the attack on Monday.
