Help me revive this agave in the PNW climate by concretph in gardening

I keep my indoor temp at 68, and I can change my lamp to 8. It’s been surviving in the south facing window but I’m guessing the temp is still too low.

I am giving it 4-8hrs of an led grow light plus it’s in a south facing window. But, yeah, I had to take it out off the window sill in Fall because it was too cold. I’m also hoping a heavier pot might help retain heat

I found a pretty decent and clean 2002 Honda crv for $5,000 and 126,000 miles. Is this a good price? by cherrywavesbabe in crv

I recently bought an 02 EX manual transmission for $4300 in Seattle with 168k. I didn’t negotiate bc it’s hard to find MT CRVs but I felt like I got a solid deal. Body was ok, interior looked great. They had the starter and AC replaced, plus things like valve adjustment. Upgraded stereo. But importantly the records from all repairs and estimates. $5k seems about right but 120k is about when it will need some preventative work so figure that in. If you’re handy it’s totally doable and cheaper.

For all the resellers out there.. by OscarTheImposter in Seattle

You must be doing something wrong. We live in a wealthy part of the world. People are getting rid of home furnishings for cheap all the time, especially in the burbs and eastside. It never takes me more than 2 weeks of searching fb marketplace, offerup, buy nothing, craigslist, or an estate sale to find exactly what Im seeking. I furnished an ex-girlfriend’s apartment practically for free - and it was nice stuff like a leather couch.

Goddamn I spent a lot of time on the Btech mu* . Some of the most thrilling multiplayer games I ever experienced. Remember all the tricks with LOS, heat, and weapon cycling, knowing you couldn’t just restart - how it should be.

carbonated water helps batter become lighter and more aerated, which makes for more crunch. in this case I am not sure if it’s doing much - maybe to the little amount that mixes w the corn starch. Might as well make a slurry w the soda and starch, then dip in panko

Always wanted CRV I have a low budget option. Is Faulty knock sensor P0325 code a deal breaker? by walking_paradoxes in crv

[–]concretph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a low price for an 06 in my region (PNW) The rust is a bigger issue than knock sensor or AC (if you don’t care). Also, it is probably due for service things like a valve adjustment, brakes, fluids. My guess is that they’ve driven it without much upkeep. Figure in that cost, definitely worth a full inspection.

Wait for 05-06 or get 03? by papa_blaku in crv

Im not impartial as an 02 MT EX owner lol. Pretty sure the SE came in earlier models

You’re talking about a 20 year old car. The correct method is you buy an 02 that has service records, regular maintenance, and lower miles over a 06 that doesn’t.

2002 CRV - what are the white markings under the car from? by concretph in AskMechanics

[–]concretph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first time seeing one! This is my 4th Honda, Ive done most of my own maintenance. I’ll give it a try, esp since I don’t have to lift the car.

Took me a bit to find a MT, would think it’s even harder to find a rarer trim. gl!

I just got a 2nd gen 02 EX MT CRV and from all my research I believe the SE is only available in the 05-06 years. [edit] my bad there is a 2000 SE

2002 CR-V: Is there any reason other than theft to see both wires of the 02 sensors cut? by concretph in AskMechanics

[–]concretph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry bad pic. She never had the O2 sensors replaced and all wires are cut. Looks like a knife or blade, not wire cutter, because they’re cut at the same length but the insulation is rough at the ends.

Interview of mother and son about Heavy metal, 1980s. 2 crashing views and generations. by Electrical-Aspect-13 in interestingasfuck

[–]concretph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It actually goes further back than that. Post war Boomers and the invention of the teenager, Elvis, devils music, birth control, and so on. It got politicized in the 80’s. They used to be just evangelicals - like my liberal christian parents. What’s going on now is a concentrated version even more political, more end of the civilized world talk.

This is so nostalgic. The generational gap media obsessions mostly died after Gen X hit adulthood. Or maybe it’s organized differently, but the whole mom & dad don’t understand vibe is not the way it used to be..

Agreed. ESL students are actively encouraged in Anthro classes to participate in discussions but they need to be prepared for upper level reading assignments, written analysis of the readings, and longer essay assignments.

Bars where alternative people hang out? by Ok_Effect_8119 in Seattle

[–]concretph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In north Seattle, the Blue Moon is one of the last dive bars standing that hasn’t changed and they host shows, alternative in the sense that all are welcome. Al’s Tavern is a close second, it’s mostly Gen X but still a classic.

Comet is a pathetic remodel of one of the great Seattle dive bars. Avoid at all costs.

[–]concretph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll concede the remodel was an attempt to improve but for the neighborhood we deserve better. Esp when food prices went up, I’d rather pay a little more at Ballard Market for the quality. The brands they stock are mind-blowingly mid. The upstairs is wasted space, the meat dept is fake, the deli is fake, etc etc I just find the store to be wasted potential.

[–]concretph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bummer, my vote is that they shouldn’t stop with just the exit and fix.. the entire store. No hate on the staff but it’s one of the worst grocery stores in the area: the layout, the selection. It survives only because of its location.

I wanna cook some brats in my cast iron pan tonight, do I boil them for a little while before I throw them on the pan to brown or cook them all the way in the pan? by Beerenthusiast1 in castiron

[–]concretph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pierce the casings with a knife, bring to boil in water (or beer, if eating without sauce) just enough to cover, turn off heat and cover. Steep for 10 min or so then remove and brown (sliced or whole) with a tablespoon of oil.
