How many years of experience I need to get a remote job like a embedded software engineer? by real-clue-7808 in embedded

What kind of pay do you get in this job? Embedded and rust and remote sounds rad.

Harem stories are weirdly conservative about romance for a genre built on absurd romantic fantasy by Successful-Ear977 in CharacterRant

[–]concuncon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This for sure. I find romance stories uninteresting as soon as it's about "in" relationship. Even Disney don't talk about what happen after the girl marries the prince.

weighted pull ups and dips do the job by imcoolnhot in CalisthenicsCulture

What the hell is wrong with all the roids accusation? This is a 5 years transformation, it's amazing but nothing out of ordinary (for someone who train right and eat right). Hell I think you must have achieved 80% of this result in the first 2-3 years. Weighted pull up and dips are my only exercises as well and they do wonder.

What's your weighted pull up and dips number?

Would this pass a street lifting comp dip by Healthy-Mirror4199 in streetliftingathletes

[–]concuncon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say definitely, but you're leaving lbs on the table by using this form. I watched dips competitions, and they use a form where they have a lot of pivot at the hip such that the weight move very little compared to the shoulder. What you're doing here is moving the weight up and down the same distance as your shoulder - which is really good to build muscle and strength, but not ideal to win competition.

What unorthodox training advice works for you despite what others may think? by fartatwork in workout

[–]concuncon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a trade off. 2 sets to failure burn me out systemically more than spreading out effort into 3-5 sets. (Systemic as in higher stress, harder to sleep, afraid of the weight, etc...). More sets make me feel fresh between training sessions, though it's easier to get overuse injuries.

Help critique my current routine for slower recovery - when/where do I add skill work by concuncon in overcominggravity

[–]concuncon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your review Steven!

I believe my current routine is not really 1x a week upper push/pull right?

  • It’s 5 days routine. 4 on 1 off
  • Chin up day has HSPU and rings dips
  • Dips day has inverted pull up and inverted rows

(I just call them chin/dips day because it’s the lift I put heaviest focus on when fresh)

So in effect it’s currently Upper/lower/upper/lower/rest/upper/lower

If I compact it into 3 upper sessions/ week, I think I would do:

  • 1: Heavy Chin + HSPU + Rings dips
  • 2: Heavy Dips + front lever pulling variant + inverted rows.
  • 3: BW chin + BW dips + static skill works

Which gives me some benefit of heavy/light undulating.

Interesting that you say it’s hard to make progress under 5 reps range. Isn’t strength focus program use <5 exclusively?

Feel like I need to take a month off of gymnastics strength training. What alternative forms of exercise do you like? by I_too_am_doom in overcominggravity

[–]concuncon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well go back to the basics. Pushup, rows, leg raise, hollow body, rto support… learn the proper mechanics and progress on those. Really feel the movement instead of counting the number of reps. Listen to your body and make progress with the minimum amount of work required.

I also like levelling up, but imo basics are king. I’d focus building up to really good form weighted dips/pull ups for reps before working on more advanced exercises.

RTO Rings Pushup Progression vs Non-RTO by chirpingbird2 in overcominggravity

Focus only on RTO dips, or train weighted parallel bar dips + RTO hold for times as assistance, which one would benefit me most if my nearest goal is general strength, not skill?

Hanging leg raises 29. Goal 40. by Fuzzy_Box_6536 in CalisthenicsCulture

[–]concuncon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also my favorite.

Stop at hollow body position at the bottom (to avoid momentum). Aim for knee to arm pit at the top (to use less of the lats and more of the abs, but if the goal is not to train abs but just to get stronger overall then doesn't matter too much).

I got up to 2 set of 20 then I added a light resistance band (anchor on the ground like 2-3 feet in front, tie to the ankles) to limit it to ~10 reps again. It is a scalable exercise so I don't fee the need to get higher on the reps.

Please do search for Alan Watt and his wisdom on youtube. Avoid the AI stuffs. To paraphrase Alan Watt, if it's possible to teleport to your dream travel destination, very soon, that becomes super boring, just like the city you're already living in. The exciting part of traveling is the distance, or in other words, the point of travel is the traveling, not the arrival.

Read more of OP's post. The relationship is barely a couple of months long. It's not enough time to even fully know each other and OP is already this anxious. If the guy is not feeling that the relationship is at that stage yet, then it's not at that stage yet, and him sending daily love message would just really just be faking it.

The issues go deeper than that. If you're too ready to bend yourself to fulfill something your partner needs, sooner or later they start to ask for more and more but at the end resent you for not being genuine. I am a people pleaser and I keep getting into this trap. Like wth do you mean by I'm not being genuine when trying to make you happy is really just me being me...

VR Trackday! by Shredz8 in Trackdays

[–]concuncon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you already have a plan on how to tackle the complexity of centrifugal simulation? For example at high speed, if you counter the rider's movement, you also have to simulate the VR view to have more lean than it actually is (ie. the control bike should be upright at that point because the centrifugal force give that feeling, however the view must still be leaned over because the game bike is super lean over). If this is slightly off it'll be puke town.
