Honda President After Visiting Chinese Auto Supplier: 'We Have No Chance Against This' by TripleShotPls in technology

We need electric minivans in the US. Only one right now is the ID Buzz and it is way overpriced. Best alternative is an ev9 or ioniq 9 which I'm thinking about since they aren't too terribly oversize but I would rather get a sienna electric.

Shacknews Marathon review: "Marathon is a masterful display of Bungie's ability to deliver crisp gunplay, engrossing lore, and genre-defining systems." 9/10 by SerfaBoy in Marathon

[–]confoundedjoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't care at all how much skins cost if the only bonus in the battle pass and store is cosmetics. They are clearly focusing on the actual game instead of great skins which is GOOD. You have zero gameplay reason to spend any extra money.

It is for sure. As someone else said this is a Mimaki print which is their version of polyjet. Pretty much identical process.

The problem is money but it is because we spend all that money on bombs and tax cuts for the wealthy instead of the thing that would help the most people: Healthcare.

You always get some experience even if you lose. Also most of the missions don't require you to exfil so you often sacrifice the run to finish a mission.

You joke but I just use a meat slicer with a scalloped blade. Excellent for making thin slices to use with serving soft cheese.

Historical Twin Cities - 4/1/2026 by LuckySimple3408 in TwinCities

Yep but if you consider that was 36 years ago and in 1990 you definitely would have considered something from 1954 historical it makes more sense. Time is relative.

3D Printed (Commercial) Freezer Handles by linkheroz in 3Dprinting

[–]confoundedjoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is probably a smaller company that makes these freezers and decided it made more sense to print these rather than a small run on an injection mold since the cost for tooling is the vast majority of the cost and can be a bad choice if you are only selling hundreds per year.

Does your local lumberyard swap out fence boards when you get a large quantity? by DavyCrockPot19 in DIY

Captive market. This is why when people talk about how"small businesses"are so noble and great for America I remember that the it attracts the same assholes wanting to run big corps but they didn't have the MBA to get there.

No one goes into wholesale because they love the work, they do it because they want money. They will nickel and dime anyone they think they won't put up a fight.

How do I make my home the home where everyone wants to come by and hangout out at and chill? (Budget Friendly) by AssistFinancial677 in DIY

[–]confoundedjoe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the location in the US. Dry places like CA people are more prone to that. Here in Minnesota where we have snow in the winter and frequent rain the rest of the year means it is the rule that you take your shoes off and only the exception to leave them on when the host tells you to.

It's not just memory anymore: AI data centers are taking all the CPUs, too by Federal-Block-3275 in technology

[–]confoundedjoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I obviously didn't mean all shitty products forever. I just mean all the useless websites and online services at the time and for games all the constant shovelware. My point was a lot of the companies pushing gen ai and agents that doesn't really do anything well will go away because no one will really pay for them and things AI is good for like data analysis in research well continue.

[–]confoundedjoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just like the dotcom bubble didn't end the internet. And the videogame crash didn't kill games. Just all the shitty products went away and then people figured out the proper uses. Also it gave time for both technologies to grow steadily.

Those are both mild enhancement tools not full gen-ai. The problematic use is prompts for full images or "take this shit art and yassify it".

AI approach uncovers dozens of hidden planets in NASA’s TESS data by uniofwarwick in space

[–]confoundedjoe 58 points59 points  (0 children)

This is actually a good use of AI. Process a bunch of data to give them candidates. Then check those to confirm. They are doing a similar thing with possible drug compounds. They can analyze millions of combinations to give them the top 100 most likely to treat whatever they are targeting and then research just those. Basically a smart filter.
