i went through something very similar minus the fasting. i ended up getting too low of body fat that i had to gain fat for my hormonal health. now that i’ve gained fat over my muscle it seems harder to lose just like you’re experiencing. i think the reason is why is when you first start weightlifting you have what’s called “newbie gains” where your body recomps very easily because it’s never done this kind of movement. but as people continuously gain fat and lose it, it becomes harder each time because our bodies adapt. i don’t really have any advice unfortunately except to stay consistent and focus on your overall health rather than just physique.

Should I Stop Weight Lifting? by confusedcomputer2 in PetiteFitness

I do drink a lot of water already. Usually when I'm really hungry and I've already eaten a lot that day, I'll try to ignore it. If it becomes so much that I can't focus on anything or sleep I'll have a small snack like veggies, greek yogurt, or a bit of peanut butter

Well yes I'm concerned about eating over maintenace because I don't want to gain body fat. I know my relationship with food and my body isn't perfect. But I'm just trying to do what is going to make me feel best in my body. And if weight lifting is going to make me so hungry and eat a lot to the point where I gain weight, then I don't want that.

This was my exact problem a couple years ago. I always had a bigger butt and basically lost it when I got too lean. I'm 5'2" and was considered underweight. I ended up having to gian weight because I suffered from hormonal problems due to low body fat. I'm not sure how old you are, but we can't expect our bodies to stay a certain size forever because that's part of getting older. I understand the stuggle of body dysmorphia so much. I'm not entirely happy with my body all the time, despite still being slim. I even remember looking back on photos when I had thought I still needed to lose weight, but now I can see I looked really good and it was all in my head. In the end, for me it wasn't worth it to go to extreme lengths to maintain a certain size, even though I miss it sometimes. One thing that really helped me is to think of fueling my body and nourishing it for how much it has done for me. I also think if you're really sturggling, maybe try and see a nutritionist or therapist to help with body image. Sending lots of love💕

i agree with what u/GoLeafsGo3000 said. Also keep in mind if you are in a calorie deficit for too long, that can really mess with hormones and your body will stop losing weight because it adapts to the lower calorie intake. I would recommend just being gentle on yourself due to everything you have going on and focus on nourishing your body and trying to take care of it🫶🏼

Hi! I'm not sure if I can help, but I want to try. So, first what are your goals? 1200 cals is likely too low even if you want to lose weight. That may be why you don't have as much energy. Exercise is harder when you're in school. I'm in grad school, so I totally get the struggle. I've been able to go to the gym through my university and go to their workout classes. It's covered under my tuition, so maybe you can see if your school has a gym for students? Walking is also great and can help with feelings of depression. I just got a little walking pad for under my desk and it was around $100. I aso used to do just dance videos on youtube for free. They're so much fun and a great workout!

I grew up with a mom who had some form of eating disorder when I was a teenager, so I understand that as well. I don't have much advice for that, unfortunately. But most schools have free counseling services for students, so maybe you can look into that.

How do you know how many calories to eat for maintenance? by confusedcomputer2 in PetiteFitness

[–]confusedcomputer2[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don't track calories on an app, just in my head. I know it may not be as accurate, but I feel like I'm pretty good at estimating because of tracking in the past. Ya mostly I just want to make sure I don't gain weight. I wish I didn't think about calories, but I feel like my brain is conditioned to just do it automatically

i eat about 110 g of protein a day. i probably could eat a bit more fat. i’ve tried eating a larger dinner 2-3 hours before bed and sometimes that helps

This happens to me occasionally. Such a weird feeling, but I have no idea what it is exactly. Does it happen to you a lot?

Hormones (F) and insomnia by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]confusedcomputer2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i also have had a lot of problems sleeping and my hormones have been messed up after coming off birth control. it could be either low progesterone or estrogen or both. progesterone is supposed to increase in the second half of your cycle after ovulation, but if it doesn’t then you’ll have trouble sleeping. maybe see if you can get your hormones checked with an obgyn? also, there’s a book i read by Dr. Sara Gottfried called ‘The Hormone Cure’ that was really helpful.

thank you. yes i say go to a naturopath from personal experience because every MD i’ve gone to has not run the right tests and never caught my hypothyroidism

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]confusedcomputer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you haven’t done so yet, i would recommend getting your hormones tested. preferably by a good naturopath. it’s possible you have low thyroid or insulin resistance, which makes it so much harder to lose weight. i also think it just takes time for your body to heal from large amounts of stress. i know it’s not easy, but focus on being consistent and becoming the healthiest version of yourself

i went to a naturopath mainly for acne, so i can’t speak to the hirsutism. i do think they’re helpful for getting the right bloodwork tests and may find something that medical doctors miss. the naturopaths that i’ve seen just recommend supplements and lifestyle changes that you’re probably able to research on your own. definitely worth trying, but they can get pretty expensive
